Bench press. Looking back over my training joirnal. Mine goes up and then tendinitis happens then a week off then repeat this cycle which results in piss gains. Anyone got a decent six week cycle? Also is bench press one word or two?

Sounds like a chronic overuse injury to me (but don't take my word for it, for f**ks' sake!), it's been years since i learned up on this s**t so i am probably missing stuff, but the basic cycle goes

Tissues are stressed and require healing before optimum fitness (ie. you lifted properly)

Insufficient recovery time before repeated stress events leads the body to use 'granulation fibres' as a temporary repair so the function is restored, albeit at a less ideal standard - it's basically a quick fix heal that isn't as strong as a fully recovered tissue, but stronger than it was to let you work again until you can recover properly (it might be related to evolution and living past a dinosour battle or some shyte)

Accumulated cycles of stress-incomplete recovery lead to a build up of these granulation fibres, which (as a consequence of being 'stand in' healing, have more pain receptors than normal - to encourage a rest for fuller recovery), which lead to cycles of pain, reduced training, resume training, increasing pain, cessation of training, reduced pain etc. etc.

if you've got tendinitis, you're going to have to take some time off whatever is causing it.
for me i had biceps tendinitis from squatting that was far more painful benching.
i had to drop back squats for a while.

Thank you for the advice re tendinitis just had a week off from benching and first session back felt good think the squatting might be the problem..

Thinking not on squat days. Any suggestions looking to build up over next 7 weeks to a PB?

I've currently got tendonitis on inside of my right elbow. 2 weeks since I did anything upper body. Going to test water tomorrow with 50% load.

Yep exactly same. I find sets of five brings it on then need to take time off.

Bit of a break

Glucosomine with Chondroitin

Ibuprofen, when necessary

Ice and heat treatment

Maybe stay away from bench and do more dumbbell work etc

This worked for me; I've bursitis in both elbows as well!

Look for the trends, how long can you go before you start to hurt.

Got that? Now deload BEFORE that happens.

That's a good starting point, your training journal can tell you more.

Yep, I had exactly the same. Changing from low bar to high bar and to a thumbless grip helped a lot, although my squat suffered a little.

true, but i'd rather temporarily lose 10kg off my squat than 200kg off my bench long term from something tearing Cool

Thanks for that info makes a lot of sense.
