I think coaching endurance sports, especially cycling seems to make more sense online, well at least to the point where you could convince someone with money to burn to go for it. More of the training metrics are objective and measurable and understandable remotely - time, hr and power allow a hell of a lot of analysis before you add athlete feedback. Trainingpeaks allows all sorts of analysis.
That at least gives the illusion that it's not cookie cutter.
£5.

I definitely think Trainingpeaks makes selling coaching easier. A coach is able to post planned workouts into a clients TP account which are also emailed daily and then instantly see and comment on workouts.

I am biased but seeing videos of someone lifting then programming based off your assessment of them plus getting to know the lifter over time works pretty well. Not sure why people would think it wouldn't work

The figure is from his own video, and is money only from online coaching. Rental etc. is from elsewhere. He could be talking BS of course.

The figure does imply that you'll get a maximum of 10 minutes of attention from him per week if he's your "coach". (!!!)

I don't think that the strongest == the best coach by any means but strength seems to be George's main selling point. It's certainly not education or professional experience.

It's strange that many of the best at WSM only have a tiny percentage of his internet following and many probably struggle to make nearly as much cash as him.

George has always struck me as a fairly simple chap so well done to him, I suppose. That said, I imagine that many of the lifters/coaches on this site would do a much better job of coaching.

Yup.

I know a number of coaches who will sit and watch a workout live and in real time over an Internet connection, so you are basically getting all the benefits without having to go to a central location...

I don't follow Leeman than closely but I think a lot of the attraction he holds for people is his whole "Leeman-ness", the image he has created.

As for being a simple chap, my impression is that he is pretty smart - although maybe not in traditional ways.

A dozen people paid $2,500 each for this weekend "seminar". Anything is possible.

That IS lazy - especially as in this day and age you could easily spend just a few days setting something up that could more-or-less run automatically but would make it very hard to discern that you were spending no intellectual effort on it whatsoever.

Seriously though, some PL seminars in CF gyms can net you some nice cash.

He was morbidly obese and got lean fairly publicly on bodybuilding.com(very popular forum)...America is full of morbidly obese people that want to get lean. He also is very strong, so hits two areas of coaching. Seems pretty obvious as to why he is a popular online coach.

But mainly be well known on popular forums rather than niche forums.

If someone like Tom Martin posted 5000 posts on the misc along with videos doing cool things...big deadlift, big squat, big box jump, big powerclean, looking lean and in good shape...he would get a lot more online work.
