Junior Worlds strongest Man 2016

Got the call up for this after crashing out of UKs, was very glad that I did get to go as it was the most fun competition I have ever entered. It also had an amazing standard something which I didn't expect

Day 1:
Duck walk, got 4th place in this , decent run but legs died on me

Dumbbell 80kg for reps
Very small dumbbell and an event I haven't trained for months so my groove was abit off, muscled through 5 which gave me joint 4th

Max dead
Flew through the light weights but 340 was slow and 350 was a grind, 360 didn't get above my knee, back is definitely fatigued as training on deads has felt amazing, joint 4th again.

Tied for 3rd after day 1 and quite far off the lead by 5.5 points

Day 2
Truck pull, very heavy 22tons and with a slight uphill at the end, missed the finish by a metre and a half, only two finished the course, 5th place

Tire flip, normally bad for me but I could get underneath the tire well and was going quite comfortably, got hard towards the end but the finished the course pretty quickly. 4th place again.

Stones 120-200 high platforms, afew guys had gotten 3, no one got 4 I went through the first 3 pretty fast but couldn't even lap the 4th it was oddly shaped and just couldn't get a solid grip. 4th place. Tom S had taken the lead at this point and had 9 points over me, second was 5.5 ahead of me and I was third. Needed a miracle but also had my best events to go.

Day 3
Wheelbarrow for max 6m course
Basically max farmers walk, first few weights were easy, by 2150lbs 3 of us left in. You were allowed one drop with the weight, the Canadian got about 3m then I was up and got about halfway before dropping. I knew I needed it and just managed to get across the line on the second pick up. The American struggled so I got the event win and a junior world record. I was now 3.5 points off second and 5 points off the lead

Car hold with straps, Matt McCoy went up and got 2 minutes which was amazing so that was my goal. I was doing ok for a minute then the agonising pain kicked in which was expected so I was planning on putting up with it until 2 minutes but after 95 seconds my strap went on the left side and that was the end of that. Tom went up and had a disaster placing near last then Nick the American got 1:20 to take 3rd in the event. This put me up to second overall 2.5 points off the win. Pretty happy with it as I've had 4 comps in 3 weeks. Two of them 2 day and 1 3 day competitions so 29 competitive events in 3 weeks and nearly managed to grab the world title after all that. It bodes well for the future that it didn't kill me but I don't plan on repeating such a hectic schedule. The plan now is to have a week off programme then start an 8 week bodybuilding block. Not sure what exactly the plan after that is as I am praying (possibly hopelessly) that a bsm invite might turn up but we'll see

Update: haven't trained since Canada, was meant to twice this week but I can't be bothered. I think all the recent comps have took it out of me pretty bad. Plan is to start a bodybuikding block next week for 8 weeks then from there it will depend on what comps I'm doing next year

There was a coaches meeting followed by a club session with my weightlifting club so I thought I'd do a nice light loosener, didn't bring my lifting shoes which was a mistake though!

Pulled a bus Saturday in Blackpool, competed yesterday at Yorkshire Highland games and managed to win, took a big effort on the last event though!
