Yes read that. The big man maybe struggles to follow hid own knowledge.
Sticking to a plan is difficult and a coach is sometimes required.
Hopefully he gets back to his best.

its easy to defer from a plan you write yourself as no one to answer to lol

Good to see another high standard athlete such as yourself say this.

I always think I would be much stronger if I listened to my own advice and stuck to a plan. In my opinion the hardest thing about training, is sticking to a plan and to listen to your body.

Some people dislike Bolton's approach of taking it easy at the beginning and work on speed/technique. To hold yourself back, then increase weights each week takes great discipline. Especially if weights feel easy/light at the beginning.

For any beginners/intermediates, I believe it's the best way to train.

I guess it is more complex for an elite athlete, so this is were a coach comes in to effect.

I think it's time for terry to retire. He isn't getting any younger and he's had a lot of injuries. With a fit z and lalas next year and all the guys who seem to be coming through it'll be tough to even make the final let alone come top 3. It seems a pointless quest to me

He only missed out on qualifying with the guys that came 2nd and 4th.

I think he could improve with a good coach.

He hasn't had a decent performance since wsm 2014. He's not going to get any better at his age after all the injuries. All the talk before was how he's so good at wsm then he doesn't do well there so now he needs a coach. It's not the healthiest lifestyle so maybe needs to give it up. Like I say what's he going to get out of it? Looking at it logically, nothing.

you do love kicking ppl when they are down don't you lol

since 2014 WSM he had a baby, set up a new gym and moved homes. To be an elite athlete you have to be pretty special to not be affected by any of them. His strength was there this year just fitness levels let him down that's all.

I agree and maybe by judging deadlift videos, he maybe over trained it slightly. He did hit a 450 earlier in the year.

With the right training, he can be competitive.

What about you? How is the injury?

Maybe he won't make the finals, I guess a lot will come down to his group. But why should he retire? No one has called for felix to retire!
At the end of the day he makes it to worlds strongest man which would be a dream come true for any of us!
He's recognised that things aren't as easy for him anymore and that why he's recruited a team, who's to say things won't click....maybe we'll see a brand new terry.
I admire him for his efforts to improve

Z is older than Terry, yet you arent advocating his retirement. You are just being an Asshat.

I cant wait to see Terry next year. He is one of the most genetically gifted men in the sport, if he has a team that help him knuckle down and focus i think he will be a serious podium threat next year. He has shown with his training vids that the strength is still there, he just needs to get comp fit and peak at the right time and theres no reason he cant be a threat at any comp.

Training videos mean nothing. What's Z got to do with anything? He's won the heaviest competition of all time this year anyway. Terry hasn't looked anywhere near his best in recent competitions. After so many injuries and having a business to run, why pursue such an unhealthy sport? What evidence have you got of a podium threat at wsm? Take your rose tinted glasses off. Ed, Z, Shaw, lalas, janashia, thor, caron, licis to name a few all look to be better on recent form. It's a tough sport, why take the risk to not make the final again.

Why not take the risk and try? Sure if he doesn't make it, at least he will know he tried.

Good luck to him.
