Z has clearly done things the right way over the years. He has grown into being a huge guy, 160kg+, rather than blow/bloat up in five years. He also shrinks a lot in the off season in both size and bodyfat, so is clealry health focused as much as you can be at that super elite level. Felix is the same.

Yes Z gets into strongman shape when needed. He doesn't lug around unnecessary body fat for times of the year.

He did bulk slower and gained gradual strength over a period of years.

He is definitely the best ever.

Without a doubt for me, all round in every lift, and actually good at strongman events. Rare combo.

I think we'll see a lot more plus 40 and 50 men and women looking and performing really well now that SARMS and TRT are much more widely known and accepted.

shame the NHS is reticent to provide TRT to men other than clinical hypogonadism. links between type-2, heart disease, osteoporosis, mental health and low test. would make sense to offer TRT as a rule not exception and of course, what 45-year old male doesn't want to have the horn levels of a teen at a porn conference? Grin

Also, the regional disparities in the treatments offered are crazy. I managed to receive TRT at my age and levels, yet a friend in neighboring NHS Trust was denied, despite being slightly older and in a worse state.

Odd haugen made his wsm debut at 51 and beat guys younger than his own kids. He's still going strong now and shifting good numbers in the gym.

Another great example of living the lifestyle right and being a competitor into relatively old age. He seems to have a finger in many pies in the strength game.

My opinion is that men doing strongman post 40 retain an element of youth... surely from an evolutionary perspective if your body continues to be placed under the strain of progressive resistance then its not time to get old yet...you are still relevant and fit[in]ness well adapt to your environmental challenges.

However, a hug feels good where as a restriction hurts. Knowing how to listen to your body is probably as important to longevity.

Without any doubt, straining under heavy weights physiologically rolls back time via the stimulation of Test and GH. Flip side of this, of course, are those athletes who take so much gear that they age massively in a short space of time. Check out Justin Compton and Dennis Wolf in the BB world, or a man whose name rhymes with Ball, or one whose name is a lot longer than the rhyming of it with door.

But doesn't he compete loads, or at least used to? He must have been doing a comp every few weeks so when did he lose loads of weight/fat?. Never seen him looking anything other than massive and with a big power belly.

He didn't compete a lot during the early part of his career. He has also dropped a lot of comps in the last few years. Even at his peak he'd compete a lot in a short space of time, then take a long break from being so heavy.

I recently attended a bdfpa event in kings Lyn, they had a group of older lifters between 60 and 80 I think they were amazing, there was a guy called the back Buchanan I was blow away at his deadlift strength these guys are proof that you can definitely lift respectable weights as you get older.

how long do u think Edd Hall will stay in the game with "balls to the walls" strategy every year?

i started thinking he's obsessed with his size and bodyweight gain
he's trying to be more fit at 190kg rather than drop 15-20 kilos and gain strength in longer period of time
kg to height ratio he's the biggest guy at the moment, frame wise he's one of the smallest
just ridiculous

I think Hall will do his best in WSM this year, finish 4th, and retire. He is on dangerous ground currently with bw and supplements usage. He really has taken weight gain to a crazy level. When you see him stodd next to Thor, Shaw, Burke and Z, you see that he just does not have the frame to carry 180kgs plus of bodyweight, hence why he performs so badly in moving events. The idea that he's gonna do well in a heavy truck pull because he's somehow super fit is preposterous He has the lungs of a 6ft 2 inch Englishman, against the capacities given by some sort of strength god to Shaw and Thor.

Minimum dose. He won't be able to continue until he wins WSM. Just look the the effects of his ten yr cycle already.
