More leverage to stir things easier?
For eating out a Knickerbocker gloryhole?
Back scratcher?

I don't know lol. It's no road trip though.

We talked about that. But the problem we had was were to put the dumbbells. The rubber metric ones could go into the other room but all the imperial, metal ones were the problem. There isn't the space in the other room, and where the smith machine was would mean they would get used there and interfere with the view of the WLers. Unless Joe and I were missing something obvious it didn't look easy. Best thing is to have a discussion one night. Where there's a will, there's a way

The discussion at the last committee meeting around this was that the vast majority of the dumbbells in the main room are either duplicated in the bodybuilding room, or are unused. The consensus was that other than retaining a smaller selection of the heavier dumbbells (for the use of lads that train outside regular club hours, the extent of which was unknown), we would look to either relocate, or put into storage the vast majority of them. This would free up more space in the main room for the clubs competitive powerlifters / weightlifters, who it was agreed should be the priority.

As a suggestion, one possible configuration for where the smith machine once stood would be to have a small dumbbell rack (there is a 3 foot-ish one) with a selection of heavier dumbbells, and the second bench (which can also be used as an incline), this would give an extra benching station, and ways of using the remaining dumbbells making better use of the space than the smith machine was giving. Importantly it would also then free up a station between the squats racks and the main bench, which could used for deadlifts etc.

Removal of the dumbbells from the corner where they are currently would then allow the currently make shift weightlifting platform to be shuffled more into the corner and become a proper platform. Surplus dumbbells then being either relocated in the bodybuilding room (space permitted), and/or put in storage in the back room of the changing room (in storage but still accessible).

This is just one possible configuration, I am sure there are many more that would be workable.

One thing for sure is that we are seriously struggling for space at the moment so we need to do something.

That was an impressive answer young Wiggers. I applaud your dedication to typing. I wholly agree with your sentiments. We just need to be certain of what we need to do. As always I will go with the majority. How much dumb-bell usage there is with weightlifters present will be a consideration. If the heavies are stacked where the Smith machine was, they will be used there as no-one will be interested in carrying them far. And the WLers won't want said users gruntin' and gaspin' in front of them

They are very useful things to have. One of the women at work was openly salivating at the prospect of long handled spoons when I described mine to her. She asked me to purchase her some next chance I got. On a whim, it being a nice day and all, I created that chance on Saturday

Haha, the length of reply was as a result of me being on the laptop for once rather than on my phone (as I am now)

We do indeed to discuss and agree the best approach

Interesting. A trip, by road, that isn't a road trip.

What changes would need to have been made to have made it one. More distance, more people, more spoons ?

Yes
Possibly and
No

If you have such a set of spoons, would they lie in a drawer unused for many a year ? I don't think so.

I received a reminder that my road tax was due and so this afternoon logged onto to the DVLA website and inserted a sixteen digit number and followed the instructions to tax my car.

This involved paying a fee of zero pounds and zero pence so that I will not be sent a tax disc as if they did I would be under no compunction to display it.

So I have had to pay nothing to do nothing. but the nothing needed to be paid and the nothing had to be done. Only the British eh ?

I believe - possibly quite wrongly - that when issuing the tax certificate (to the database) they check that the vehicle is insured and MOTed, so that there's a single checking point for other validators.
