I know this has potential to cause argument. I know a few company men use these forums but I need to know:

If I want a package of weights, ideally something like this:

200 (or just over)kg weights with a 7ft bar.
Solid squat stands (with bench adjustable)
And a bench (ideally adjustable) for (at least) 300kg durable..

Where to go? I trust Strength shop but their weights with bars seem much more expensive (even just for iron). Though I like their squat stands.

Fitness superstore (northampton) seems pretty good and I could visit though I've seen quite a few bad reviews for customer care and delivery online.

And a couple of other online only stores that I don't even know I could trust.

Any advice? I'm on a budget. Even if there were a second hand forum somewhere for this kind of stuff. I might have a new house in a few weeks and I'll have to workout from home (IN THE GARDEN) from now on. Any advice...

ebay, loot, gumtree if you're on a big budget. it just may take time to build up your needed equipment.

fitness superstore were fine when i bought some bodypower plates and a 7' 1500lb rated bar off them when i first started training.

if you're gardening it, then argos for gazebo (and catalogues for zerchers).

Pullum's Kit is pretty solid (my uni gym has a couple of racks etc. from them) Also, they've been good customer service-wise when I've got kit off them. Can't comment fully as I only got minor stuff such as knee sleeves from them however.

I used powerhouse fitness for my home gym. They get really bad reviews about customer service but luckily I had no issues.

There is a Facebook group, if you're on there, called powerlifting kit for sale uk which has some good stuff on

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I've also seen a couple of sales on this very forum which I must reference again. I'll check out the facebook group too.

But if anybody wants to give me stuff for free - I'm also here...

I bought my first set from powerhouse fitness, the more you buy the more discount you get and I can't fault their customer service, had an issue with some plates I bought separately and they changed them no problem.
