This is why I don't follow powerlifting.... I just can't get to grips with all the eastern European names ha

I think we've got a few exciting years coming up in strongman with Hall, thor and shaw

For me that's why he is the best Strongman. Z was the king, but Brian could hang with him at his peak. In my opinion Brians the man to beat now.

I see from Z's facebook page that he had elbow surgery a few months ago. Hope the big guy comes back stronger and smashes WSM next year!

He was actually going to do the 2014 comp he was just injured on the day. 2015 he was getting married.

I was at the comp in 2014, Brian may have been there, but it didnt seem like he came with any intention of competing.

As for 2015, weddings are planned quite a way in advance, much like the comp was, if he had wanted to compete he could have arranged things so that he was there.

I was there as well and agree.
He also didn't attempt a max at the Australian Arnold, where Eddie did the 462kg, because he felt a tightness in his trap I think. He pulled an easy 420kg for second place.

Edit: although I'll add I'm not meaning to bad mouth him, at Europes 2014 he spent all day hanging around and stayed until everyone had done the meet and greet at the end.

It truly amazes me what people get wound up about on here.

I like Donnie, but your hate for Shaw is mad. He is class strongman.

Z is still the best ever, but Shaw is fantastic.

no doubt any of the top strongmen would make great powerlifters. better than malanichev though? dont know, they'd need to squat bellow parallel for a start. big loz was awesome at the GPC british, these russians though are a whole new level.

Shaw needs to push Ed, because nobody else will! Benni could, but Shaw needs to stop getting a tweak in his ball sack and pull a big weight.

End of an era.

The 2014 tweak wasn't from a warm-up at the deadlift comp...he actually competed in a comp a few days before the comp and done a 1000lbs hummer deadlift as shown in this pic and got the tweak there(I think).

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/10590560_1658314364393098_4189874710097811052_n.jpg?oh=7dabf5f3a93b2f2f5c72a0c5184f0254&oe=56DA125E

But will agree if he doesn't turn up next year it will look bad on him, since I am pretty sure I saw an interview where he said he wants to win Arnolds, WSM and pull something massive(the record).

I think Thor will surprise a lot of people. Maybe even 464 but I doubt he could keep up with Ed

He surprised me last time at the deadlift world champs, so I won't rule him out of getting a new PB... I agree though that he may not be able to keep up with Ed.
