If you are serious Nike, or Adidas or Pendlay.
Do-Win have no worth.

little_a said:Not a big fan of the lifting shoes that don't have a solid heel as I like getting a bit more put on. For an £80 budget I'd opt for these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adidas-Power-Perfect-2-0-Weight-Lift...

This is what I'm going to get when my shoes finally die! Sod paying £150+ for a pair of training shoes, unless they instantly add 40kg to my total.

The question is, what the hell have you been doing to your shoes Rodge? I've had my adidas ironworks 9-years and only now and they getting near to needing to be replaced.

Yeah I've had my ironworks 6 years now and are tip top, I feel really guilty even considering the adipowers as my old faithfuls have served me so well they're too sentimental to be cast to one side!

Have any of you guys tried actual bowling shoes? I took a 99p ebay punt and they are my favorite lifting shoes, better than polish ironlifters, dowins and vs dynamos. Well worth a crack for the price, anyway.

I'd vote for do wins as well, I've had mine for a couple of years now and they're still going strong.

I think you would need very wide feet for them to be a good fit though.

I have had a shot of romaleos and although they are far better shoes than the do wins, just not £100 better. I also think that unless you are an elite weightlifter the difference in performance will be so marginal that you'd barely even notice.

My IronworkII are 10 years old and in no fear of letting me down any time soon. They are the 3rd pair I've bought in 36 years, and I've only ever bought Adidas. They've cost me no more than £10 a year. Sizeable outlay, but excellent return.

Anyone tried increasing the heel on their weightlifting shoes?

http://www.allthingsgym.com/olympic-lifting-shoes-with-extra-e...

Since breaking my ankles a couple of times my ankle flexibility is rubbish, and they can be very painful. Was thinking about trying this as an option to help with squats and leg drive. Any ideas how to do this DIY? Or would it just be a visit to the cobblers?

I love my Do-Wins, clownshoe or not!

Had them for about 8 years. I think about upgrading them, but they're at that age now where I know I'll wear them till they fall apart.

To the lads who have had both, am I going to realistically get anything out of switching to Romaleos or Adipowers?

Don't mess about with your lifting shoes man. A few quid at a cobblers and a stress free life is where it's at. Should be ready for you next day.

If you're concerned about how much to put on you could always experiment with heel shaped carpet cut outs on the inside till you know how much you want and what feels comfy. 1/4 - 1/2 inch should make a big difference.
