Evis said:Yeah I believe he said in his meet report video that he took his squats down lower from six weeks out from the meet.

I think the best thing is just to get over this meet and move on to worlds. Maybe the USAPL isnt Jesses greatest fans due to his mingling with Dan Green-like types but at Worlds I dont think anyone is going to care, and he will get lifts like this one.

Crazy, crazy lifter with the potential to go past 900 in -93 IPF.. as a junior.

Sounds like a gimpy cult if that's true

Oo he hangs out with someone we don't like, let's be more critical of his squats

To be fair that rumour has long abounded in Powerlifting and is not confined to the USAPL.

If you believe it then it explains everything and if you think it is bo***cks then...well, it is bo***cks.

I don't think it's bo***cks necessarily, but if it's true it's a bit outrageous and outdated and needs fixing asap

layne norton stated the judges were consistent and a lot of people hot red lighted for depth unless it was clearly in.

if you look though this just looks a close call - the videos are from the front and most feel its in - this includes the centre ref. from the side both refs red lighted it (one side ref red lighted his first attempt).

as long as the refs were consistent at the comp it seems a fair call

I watched a lot of the squat footage in the 93kg class. There were well over 100 lifters across all ages. I think 70 in the Open class. Judging looked good to me overall. In that stuff that looked borderline or high got some reds. I don't think he was purposefully screwed, but who knows really. It could be a case that he was simply under high scrutiny as a high profile lifter going for records and didn't get any 'rub of the green'. I have laughed a lot the last few days about people on line claiming he was '3" below parallel, 'buired' or 'ATG'. Yeah he might have been just in but ATG???

....the IPF is the 'evil empire' to some so when there is a hint of a squat that looks like it may be in getting reds a section of the powerlifting internet goes nuts lol

I hate the term ATG... If you leave a sweaty ring piece stain on the floor after squatting, only then can it be classed as ATG.

Depends on how long your grass is surely? from your description you clearly favour a neatly trimmed lawn, others however might like a wild meadow

Your raise a very valid point, I'd meet half way and suggest a lawn that ticked the sack, but doesn't violate the ring. If one squatted naked that is.

Great answer though, I did lol
