I've a 4" belt I use for everything. Mark Rippetoe is on about these restricting movement in the deadlift here, http://startingstrength.com/site/article/the_belt_and_the_dead... Skip to the bottom of page two if you want the meat and no gravy.

It seems to make sense.

The only thing I do differently is on Squat I'll have both prongs levered in so it's tighter, in deadlift it'll only be one so it's a bit looser...

And tbh I'll only do that when I'm fat. Maybe it's cos Rippledough is a fat c**t?

I prefer squatting in a lever belt and deadlifting with a single prong. I also like wearing the belt higher for deadlifts.

He is very mid section heavy. I guess he does think telling everyone to drink a gallon of whole milk a day is a good idea?

Same here. When I bend over, I inhale then - not before hand like a lot of people so I need to put my inhaled gut between my thighs where it fits. The belt is counter-productive for me.

Long torso though.

yeah i got a spud ink thing with a ratchet fastener. does make getting to the bar much more comfortable. less support/assistance though.
