Sugdens crazy old person. Member 4936, 7288 posts SQ 270, BP 155, DL 270695.0 kgs @ 100kgs UnEq | Resting a injury now. I figure that 24 hours off my feet can help. I got so bored watching the TV. I got a email for a psychic reading. I also noticed there are some psychic reading places all over town. The police use psychics to locate missing people at times. Do you believe? Did you ever go to one?

I certainly hope not! Funny you bring this up actually. Some guy visited a local pub near mine last month and did a presentation debunking psychics and ghosts and s**t. Was quite entertaining. Not that I needed convincing or anything.

Member 4416, 1369 posts SQ 210, BP 175, DL 240625.0 kgs @ 122kgs UnEq | I read of legitimate usage in the US, appointed directly by the police force. I once read of it in UK, but it was in The Sun so.., make of that what you will. I don't know if it's possible to "be psychic" but sure as heck don't make the front pages BEFORE major events happen. And I'm still awaiting my lotto numbers. For the US: A former senior investigator for the FBI has stated that psychics may be used "as a last resort [and] as an investigative tool with caution" (John Douglas, Mark Olshaker, Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit, Pocket Books; 11th THUS edition (1 August 1996))

Member 4923, 1795 posts | Don't believe that stuff for a second. It's just con artists preying on people's vulnerability. There is a great documentary about psychic debunker James Randi, himself a magician. He offers a million dollars to any psychic who can successfully predict stuff under his controlled conditions. He has exposed many faith healers and such and even fooled some scientists with elaborate hoaxes. He is well known for making a fool of Uri Geller on the Johnny Carson show in the 70's. Look up some of his videos.

David Copperfield does a trick where he cuts himself in half, splits the two halves and then rejoins himself together without so much as a scar. Of all the people who saw that not a single one of them really believed he had really done that. They all knew it was a trick. A psychic is merely a dishonest magician, very talented but they lie through their teeth and claim special powers that they do not have, do not be fooled just because their tricks involve something personal to you. I would have them all shot. Google James Randi and see some of the classic failures he has witnessed.
