I don't really understand the question Luki. Not least because I'm under-educated for political demographics. I have no idea how or if they suffer in any way. My ideal world has no borders and no passports but I'm a dreamer.

(and im not trying to subtly make a point, genuinely interested in your thoughts) I predict it will break up eventually so yeah. The reason there wasn't a stronger political union is that the European people would never have accepted it; so that, in turn, made the monetary union unworkable. I think the end result of these economic differences will be deep divisions in Europe. Particularly if divisions appear in the EUs handling of Russia at the same time. I am against the centralisation/collectivisation as a general principle so I think it is morally flawed also.

It has the best record of promoting human rights and its citizens have more rights and enjoy a better standard of living than citizens from other parts of the world. I think this is a measure of our success vs other world powers. EU has the best record on trying to fix issues that treaten life on earth like global warming. We are the world leaders of science, technology and innovation. We also are where most political philosophy originated in 18,19 and 20 century and I believe whatever philosophy comes next to allow world society to develop will be European. We are the biggist world market and can thus control a large portion of world commerce especially if we come together as one nation to forward European shared values and goals. I think they tried that whole shared values and goals bit in Russia once - didn't end well. None of the undoubtably impressive achievements you have listed came about as the result of collectivisation. They came from culturally and politically independent states.

I don't really understand the comparison with Canada and Australia; both are fairly small countries, in terms of population. The USA is culturally homogenous, has one dominant language, a single currency, and a fairly long, successful history as a single political entity. None of these things can be said of the EU. Nonetheless, it still operates in a federal fashion, with a lot of decisions made at state, rather than national level, and even then government is "small", by European standards. China, of course, also has a (very) long history of being and integrated political entity (albeit with oft-changing boundaries). In its current iteration, though, it only works because it is highly authoritarian and the government is very intrusive at almost ever level of public and private life. I also believe that unless major reforms take place in the next decade or so, China is doomed to suffer a huge upheaval at some point in the not-too-distant future (not something I can prove of course). So (TLR): No, N/A, N/A, Yes.

Canada is G7 big world player.

Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | Hard to say. I would keep up with developments though. The banks are currently closed and ATMs are limited to 60 euro withdrawals. Whether that's the case in the holiday resorts I don't know. Taking as much cash as you can is probably a good idea. They are having a referendum on Sunday which, if they vote 'no' on, may eventually trigger them exiting the EU. If that happens, who knows what that will lead to. The whole thing is incredibly unpredictable at the moment.
