Looking very strong at the moment Bim, and with a comp near your peaking at the right time...i think Pete's spot on tho about backing it off,it will pay dividends in the end.

Cheers Ape, I do try to listen to Pete, he's far more sensible than I am!

I think what Ape and Pete have said to be true particularly for your ages. I think one of the problems with powerlifting is everybody looks too immediate. Taking regular deloads will not only pay dividends in long term but the short term aswell. I personally would be too concerned with the number in training last four weeks to a meet just getting heavy number for a one or two sets is sufficient. For me after my last comp the recovery worked amazing. BTW looks like i could be ipf with ynepf in November at Eggborough 120kg class if you fancy an end of year comp.

Well it's split over two days, you going to be there on the Sunday? Good to see you if you are.

Ok, I've just been looking for details on what the address / where the venue is, any ideas?

I always thought I had to train harder the older I got Wink

Not sure about the one in November, is it the YNE Open on the 21st?

Yeah, I agree, this is my last bit of hard work before the comp though, steady for most of next week then a few days off. I've knocked squat rep work down a lot over the last couple of weeks and feel a fresher now than I did a couple of weeks ago. From training in the past I know that I have to put in a fair bit of hard work to get my numbers up, if I back off too much then I don't make progress.

The comp you were on about in November, is it the YNE Open on the 21st?

Deads
60x5
100x5
140x3
180x1
200x1
220x1
240x1
260x3
280x1
280x1
280x1
Top singles were reasonably tough. Lockout strength isn't there at the moment but to be expected really.

Deficits - couple of inches from the feet
220x2
240x1
260x2 - pb

Last 280x1 dead, 260x2 deficit:

Bench - max grip
20x20
60x5
200x3
120x1
140x1
160x1
180x1 - nice rep
160x3
160x3
160x3
Kept full grip width, not too much stress on the shoulders. All the 160's were a decent speed.

Bench 180x1, last set of 160x3:

Bench is coming on nicely, see if I can manage to keep max grip at the comp. Tonights the first time in 3 months I've been over 260 on deads so top end strength is down a bit.

I will be there both days in capacity as coach and general runner arounder for the West Riding club. Dr D is lifting equipped in the 105s so doubtless you will see me in the warmup room trying to crowbar him into various pieces of equipment.

The venue is the Hirst Welfare Centre in Ashington. Alexandra Road, Ashington NE63 9HN

All of these were comfortably in except the 240 which you may have to dip slightly more for. It was borderline but you dont want to give them a decision to make.

See you there then! I thought it was classic so no equipped lifting? Cheers for the address.

Easy enough
