Trump will get another four years Member 126, 16707 posts SQ 160, BP 110, DL 225495.0 kgs @ 75kgs UnEq | Heres my writeup and vid: BNSF Under 90kg Southern Qualifier Build up to this has been solid aside from not having trained any yoke at all. My only real worry was that I was a bit heavier than I would like to come in; but only from the perspective that I don't like to dehydrate before competing. As it was, I dropped a kg from thursday to saturday which enabled me to have breakfast before weighing in and still weigh in at 89.1kg. The event order was switched on the day to have the moving events first in an effort to avoid the forecast wet weather. Sod's law dictated that the rain came early and stayed throughout the moving events, then clearing up for everything else. Due to this, the event were changed to straight runs with 110kg farmers and 280kg yoke. Farmers Walk - 110kg for 20m So this was just a sprint race with some fairly close times. I just finished behind John in a close run race by a few 1/10s of a second. Unfortunately I came out on the wrong end of some close times and didn't place as well as I would've liked - 7th I think? Disappointed with that as I have put alot of work in on farmers recently. I think a heavier/longer run might have suited me better. Yoke - 280kg for 20m I hadn't prepped this event as I have no access to my yoke at the moment but I was hoping that it would be ok - nope! Felt mega heavy. Finished it without a drop but at a snail's pace. Terrible placing again - 8th or 9th maybe. I was feeling a bit under pressure by this point. Log Clean + Press - 93kg in 60secs The weight was slightly heavier than advertised (90kg) and the log we were using was slightly thinner than standard so I was a little apprehensive about this. I had a warmup on it though and it felt ok to one motion. My original target was 10 in 75secs but the time limit was also changed to 60secs so I re-adjusted that to 8. I started pretty smoothly but, annoyingly, missed one by being off balance at 5 or 6. Just carried on though and missed another right at the end. In the end I got 7 with 2 missed lifts getting me a share of first place. Gutted I didn't get one of the missed ones as I would have won the event outright if I had. Clawed back some points at last! Axle Deadlift - 210kg in 60secs I don't pull much in training anymore so I wasn't quite sure what I was aiming for here. Axle deadlift is my worst pull variation so I knew I would be down on points again here. However, I pulled an easy double a few weeks ago so I was confident of getting a few reps on the board. Pulled a triple, then a single and then failed one at the end leaving me with four reps. Low points but a pb pull on axle so I was happy with that. Max Overhead from the rack I was sat in 5th overall at this point not sure of the points although I felt that I was probably a way off 4th. My aim was top three on this top solidify my 5th place and hope that it was 5 qualifiers. There were some good pressers and jerkers there but the weights were going up much more smoothly than in training so I was confident. 120 went up easy with the field thinning out quite a bit at 130. 130 went up well for me but when my left leg went out to catch the jerk I strained my calf quite badly. Luckily that didn't affect my drive for my 140kg attempt. It went up well although it hurt like hell on the catch. I was really happy with that as I have been chasing that number on btn jerks for a couple of years now - missing it on a number of occasions. 145kg was the next weight but it wasn't there so I ended up with a share of 2nd. A good finish! I had alot of mixed feelings though this one - frustration at my moving events and then happy with my static stuff. Its my old problem of inconsistancy. I finished up 5th which may or may not be good enough to qualify me - just waiting on confirmation from Simon. Hopefully i'm in. The day was a good craic and it was encouraging to see the standards rising in the nattys. vid: Godd fun day despite the weather. Thanks to george and the loaders. | ||
