problem is do these athlete at this level of eliteness truly know every minutae of their training regime when in an environment of coaching teams, nutritionists team doctors doing so much for them. 'Healthy b12 injection' could easily be with added microdose of epo/test etc by an unscrupulous coach

If the punishment was a little harsher for positive testing athletes like...

...Shooting them through the head with a crossbow..

..Would this help?? Confused

with regards to the RL positives, as Bish has alluded to, a lot have been for recreationals...certainly the high profile ones (Hock for example)

Of the ones on the list for the last 12 months only 1 of the 16 was for recreational (listed as narcotics), the other 15 were a mixture of anabolic agents, testosterone, and human growth hormone.

I also dont go for the old "its only the s**t players that take anything" what a load of tosh.

I dont care who takes what to be honest, I just like a nosey now and again at who has been caught. I thought the fact that so many rugby players had been done was worth mentioning.

It would certainly make the Tour de France's of the lance era an interesting spectacle

No no, that's not what I meant - only the s**t players get caught

I'm sure there are high class players using what I meant was that the lower level players get caught as they have less to lose

rugby has developed a culture of size at all cost which must make ped a massive temptation - remember back in early 90s when Kevin Iro at Wigan was 'massive' being something like 15 stone (but 6-4 tall) - you get halfs heavier now at far shorter height

I'm sure you have a point here, Jason, but I'm afraid I don't know what it is.

Didn't BWL go to court over this 5 or so year ago as several cases affected lifters hoping to lift at the Commonwealth Games?

I would be interested in hearing about this.

There has been cases of people deliberately leaving it to the last minute to try and get to a games while being in as much gear as possible... In fact im sure that's quite common in many sports

I've looked through them before and, apart from the old 'spot the sugdenite' game, it's fascinating and enlightening.

I'm not surprised that, in absolute terms, rugby is high up. I imagine participation numbers are significantly higher than for many other sports, and of course the rewards are not insignificant. For guys making a living, I can see the temptation.

The case with the Welsh guys seemed...unconvincing. I recall some excuse about 'tainted supplements' being used; however, the whole case seems a little murky.

Ah, yes. There is something of a difference between that thread and this, though, don't you think?
