in the 70's .... nutrition and training wasn't what they are today , not even close, putting that much muscle in 2 years ...IMO its ridiculous to think he did it naturally.

Id disagree in regard training and nutrition in terms of gaining .muscle mass.

Watched some of it last night but i couldn't make it to the end, the presenter/format did my tits in.

Especially when he said he had to stop going for bike rides with his friends because he was so much faster than them (epo) it was embarrasing but he wouldn't tell them he was doping; surely if everyone went at their own pace they wouldn't ride together anyway, he was willing to announce it to the world via tv but not his training buddies, and it had no value to the show other than him humblebragging (which was what really grated me, it seemed half the time he spoke was to big himself up and thd other half to explain obvious s**t over and over).

Stanley Floyd and Mel Lattany were the 2 consistent Americans around the time of the Moscow games, but Wells had consistently beater them before and after those championships, Winning an Olympic medal, with all the heats and qualifying involved requires way different prep than a one off race,
As a young Scotsman at the time, Alan Wells was a huge hero of mine and a massive inspiration.
Would he have won without the boycott? well never know, but I tend to think so, was he taking? Was everyone else?
With the Eastern block pioneering state sanctioned doping at the time, id say everyone else was trying to play catchup...

Don Quarrie - 1976 Olympic 200m champion and silver medalist in the 100m
Silvio Leonard - third quickest over 100 metres in 1980 (second quickest in 1979 and quickest in 1978).

AND, Within two weeks of the 1980 Olympic 100m final he took on the best Americans who didn't go to the Olympics and beat them.

In addition, Wells was the second quickest over 100metres in 1980.

yeah as i said before - Wells was genuine world class in in his day, we've just gotten so used to the likes of bolt, powell and gatlin going 9.7 and under that his times seem 'slow' now. but from a little check on wikipedia only jim hines (9.95) had gone sub-10 electronically timed in 1980 - (calvin smith then did 9.93 in 1983 and Ben johnson 9.83 1987)

Latest news - Mo Farah has withdrawn from the Birmingham grand prix after a week dogged by allegations about his coach Alberto Salazar's involvement in doping

Mo Farah has withdrawn from Sunday's Birmingham Grand Prix, explaining that he is “emotionally and physically drained” after a week in which his coach was accused of plying another athlete with drugs.

Farah was supposed to be the star act at the Alexander Stadium, closing the meeting by running in the 1500m.
