Yeah definitely things like good mornings are best on a barbell but one of my all time very best and most effective exercises is close grip incline smith machine bench press
I fact it's my favourute upper body strength movement

I naturally have very little upper chest so is very hard for me not to use a lot of shoulders on incline. I explain these things because a lot of people have said i'm crazy / stupid for using machines or doing partial rom movements. Even when i say guys like zavickas or hall and many gym strong pro bodybuildings do the same things they still think i'm trying to take some easy option not using barbells every exercise or that if i used less weight with full rom i would get better results. They don't realise that partial rom / constant tension reps are often harder to do as they have never tried and they don't realise you can push your muscles more on machines with less risk of injury. Sometimes traditional is best, other times new/different ways are better.

Started out not being able to push press a 20kg bar, pinch grip three 5kg plates, or deadlift more than 60kg and have gained 130lbs in bodyweight. Have made a lot more progress than 99% of people and i will have made a heck of a lot more if we fast forward a couple years.

Comp wise i have not had any big success but all 3 open comps i've done i have been injured or ill (hence the changes in training/nutrition), and at novice i made the uk north finals every year with the standard going up considerably each year. I would have prefered to have won the finals but competing with no 'supplements' and pretty s**tty strength genetics in this sport is hard work, takes a lot of years to reach a higher level no matter how well you are doing and some of those 'novices' were 300lb with abs.

My body is telling me i should keep eating a s**t ton, it's like a bullet train right now, i'm waking up starving 2 times each night having to eat more meals despite being off the 'supplements' so i'm going to listen and not change anything. No junk but will keep eating as much clean food as i can and see what happens, not sure if i'll keep gaining weight or not. Going to stick to the same training for longer too, already doing the hacks and keeping dumbbell presses going so may as well keep doing good mornings and romanians till i change up the others. I would like to do reps at 140kg good mornings and 230kg romanians.

lol no ill leave that to hix, am giving it all away for the bargain price of f**k all, nothing fits anymore. I don't know where to get 5xl t-shirts an s**t though?? Got a 4 x which is starting to get a bit tight and a couple 3 x's that are more like 5 x size but nothing else fits me anymore. Don't have even one pair of pants that fit anymore, show my arse every time i bend is getting annoying but don't know where goes big enough.

I know is terrible but theres nothing i can do about it, biggest boxers i have hardly get on, some just wont go up my legs an the pants push down every time i bend. Biggest i have seen is 3 xl long.
