spent some time with a very good PL coach who has widened my low bar stance a fair bit. it feels great and i can squat a lot more a lot easier now.
trouble is when i got home and tried it in my cage, my feel essentially need to be where the outside bottom posts of the cage are. how to work around this? i could take the bar off the pregs and walk it out of the cages, or i also have some bodymax squat stands. trouble is both those options would involve not having safeties/catchers for heavy low bar squats.
considered having sections of the bottom posts cut out of cage but i'm not sure what this would do to the structure of the cage. currently squatting narrower again but its not feeling at all right. will use wider stance in comp though.
oh and i train alone at home so have no spotters for squats.

Firstl I would say foryour lighter days and when doing speed work you can walk out of the rack as the weights won't be really heavy for you

That's the trouble with most cages on the market, they don't take into account wide stance squatters or deadlifters. What does the bottom of the cage look like?

Do you use the pull up bar much? If not, it would be very easy to make 3 new, slightly longer crossbeams out of 2" RHS steel, or whatever it is.

You would then be at risk of making the rack too tight to get the bar in and out.

You could also make a platform to stand on out of plywood with 2x4s screwed underneath to lift it over the bottom of the rack. Would need to be well supported though to make sure its safe.
