Bench press (comp grip)

110x3
120x3
130x3x3

Pin press (lockouts; pinky grip)

100x5
140x5
150x4

Change to comp grip

160x1
170x1
180x1
190x1
200x1
210x0

Dumbbell rows

40x8
50x8
60x5
70x5x2
60x10 (couple of cheats thrown in)

Seated dumbbell cleans

10x10x2

Solid session today. Technique didn't really really click benching. Not 'clean' enough reps, but got the work done. A little bit of tricep work with narrow grip lockouts then decided to have a bit of fun with lockouts with a comp grip. This means a very small ROM (approx 4"). Made sure to hold at lockout for a count of 5 and lower slowly to get the most out of it but the transfer to my bench is low. But its nice on occasion to press out a supra-max weight of the pins.

Happy with rows. Probably a pb there, but carn't say I track 5RM in an assistance lift Tongue

Deadlift- 170x1x15
One leg press- 10x3
Hanging leg raises- 10x3
Grippers- RH; IM*2 x3, x2, x1 (10sec hold!) Nailed every rep!, RH; IM*1 x5, x8, x6

Nice session that turned great. Deadlifts felt good. Will be doing a light session most weeks now to work on speed, timing and set up. The last 3 singles I tried having my heels only inches apart (Dave Carter style). It felt really good and will experiment a bit more with this style.

But the grippers were great. Best session ever! Destroyed the IM*2 x 3 with the 1st 2 reps being able to grind the handles. The last single I even held for 10s. Last week only got 2 closes out of the 5. Possibly doing the deads got my CNS going, plus I used chalk which I havn't fo a while. All in all smashing!

Curcuit of following x 3;

Plate front raise x 10
Lateral raises x 10
Bent over raises x 10
Band pressdowns x 10

Pulldowns- 10x2

Mobility and band traction work.

Flet better after than I did before I went into the gym. Job is done.

I do 5" ROM lockouts week in week out Ian. Its part of the Metal Militia training style. If you lift in a shirt i definately reckon it helps. I do triples with weights which are very supra max to my raw bench, but around the same as my max single shirt bench. I stupidly do em on a rediculously dangerous heath robinson contraption which involves an incline bench machine, some boards and plates, and more weight than i can safely handle with no spotters or catch pins Grin

Cheers Ben, but I am an unequipped lifter so its off the chest that is the problem. I do lockout work but the very small ROM movements I just do on the odd occassion.

I like your 'living dangerous' style!

Block pulls (mid shins)- 220x1, 230x1, 240x1, 250x1 (=pb), 260x1 (new pb), 272.5x0 (bit unrealistic lol!)

Squat- 120x2, 130x2, 140x2, 150x2, 160x2, 170x2, 180x2

Rack holds- 10s x 4

Great session today. Used the feet closer together style and it felt great. Very happy with new pb from this height (1 of the best lifts this year). Normally this poss is weeker than of the floor by +10kg. Leading up to 1st comp in jan I did 250 from this height and went on to pull 260 at the comp. so as I have just equalled my deadlift pb it bodes well for the British in sept.

Not only that but I have video footage that I'll try and post this weekend. 20th century here I come Wink

Nice pulling mate, looks like we could see 600lbs fall at the comp!?

P.S. I love the way everyone has to add on the extra 2.5 when they go heavy on the rack pulls near 600, Olly used to do this all the time even if it meant making him far less likely to get the rep Grin

LOL! Yes Rob your not wrong. TBH I new I wouldn't get it so might as well not get 600lbs! I'd also never pull 225 either!

2 Board press- 140x1, 150x1, 160x1 (=pb), 170x0
Bench press (pinky grip)- 100x3, 110x3, 120x3, 130x3
Dumbbell rows- 40(+mini band)x10x2, 40x15
Mobility and band traction

Solid session. 160 was pretty easy and thought 170 was in the bag but ddin't get hold of it right and I lossed it towards my face. Probably should have had another go. Benching was good. Happy with 130x3 fatigued.

160 raw is real strong on the 4" mate. Whats this band traction everyone on this site seems to do?

Just using a band to stretch and mobilise a joint.

3/7/07

Deadlifts- 182.5x1x10
Leg ext/leg curl- 10x3 (no rest betweeb sets)
Grippers- RH; IM*2x3x3 (just missed 3rd close on 2nd and 3rd set), IM*2x10s holdx2 (missed close on last one), LH; IM*2x1x3 (5-10mm of closeing), IM*1x5x2

Nice session. Back feeling a little beat from Fri's block pulls, but still pulled well. I think if I pull heavy on fri I need to play it by ear on the load for the following tues. Started to slow down around 9th rep so stopped at 10. Grippers good but didn't feel quite as 's**t hot' as last week! But still did more closes of the *2 than last week

Incline dumbbell press- Tabata

Wide grip pulldowns- Tabata

Curcuit x 3;
Tricep pushdowns x 10
Hammer curls x 10
Seated dumbbell cleans x 10

Some shoulder stretching + mobility using a fit ball.

Quck session but the tabata stuff was hard. Lats min of on each lift was errr...fun?

One more session to go before another de-load week is upon me. Hopefully have some fun with some knee wraps squating tomorrow.

could you explain mate, do you think it would help subscaular impingement? My shoulders are both crocked at the moment.

Well I aint a sports therapist but it should help impingment. A sport therapist I have seen said that the idea was a good thing to mobilise the joint and keep them healthy after the compression occuring through benchin etc. But I read about the method from an article by Dave Tate (Elitefts).

However I would go about it very carfully if you have an existing injury and would seek expert advice regarding it.

Anything you can do to maintain some flexability in the shoulder joint is probably a good thing. My ROM is shocking in some positions and so I have been trying to improve (if slghtly) or at least not let it degrade any more. Hence band traction and dislocates plus fit ball stretching and mobility.

Hope that helps? Happy
