I've had asthma most of my life, generally its exercise or allergy induced. I've just recently started using a preventative inhaler 2x daily however, I ALWAYS still take my salbutamol one before I go for a run although I'd be interested to know if I could get away without doing so. With the weights I don't generally need to bother.

Cheers again guys. Well I went out for some walking/jogging this morning after second minute of jogging I had literally had to take the inhaler. Few more intervals of jogging later felt great. For now with the coldish weather I will take it before until I have built up to doing some decent mileage.

As for before weights I have been training heavy for the past 5 months and low rep stuff was fine but I always seem to chicken out on rep work on compound movements

Seem to be the same as everyone else, had it as a kid but grew out of it. Then moved into a Uni house where my bedroom was riddled with black mould which seemed to set it all off again, was fuming as my rugby was going very well up until then. Just started to use inhaler again and cycled to places instead of walked, seemed to sort me out a bit.

Yes. Getting on a higher dose preventer inhaler made the symptoms dissappear for the most part. Rarely need the ventolin inhaler now apart from when it gets hot & humid.

I actually started powerlifting because it was the exercise I could do with least suffering due to my asthma. I did 5x5 on deadlift or squats one day a week and I still used to get an attack doing it. Happy to say I'm much better than that now.

Cardio (running) has definitely helped my asthma.
