I have played with stones in the gym before but did my first session Sunday. Its now Tuesday and my arms are blue and peeling like I have sunburn.
I lifted bare first and that was fine up to 100kg. I put on black tape then tacky for the 110kg after failing to lap it. The tape just ripped off when switching hand position. The tacky was really strong spider tacky from strength shop.
- Is tape-ing a waste of time if you don't do rings of it around your arm?
- Is spider tacky too strong and I should be using a lighter tacky and save this for competitions?
I was looking around the site at sleeves and medical tape posts. Don't really want to go their until I know the bare arms wont work for me.
The heavier stones are new and are not as well polished as the other ones and have gaps in the concrete. They also have a lot of dust on them. Would this cause extra bruising?

I'd save spider tacky for comps and I've stopped using tape as it's really annoying if it slips off

Do you use tacky at all for training? If yes is it a lighter (read leaves skin on arms) one than spider.

Pound land stock neoprene calf supports for (you guessed it) a pound a pop. Bob these on the forearms and a bit of tape (and tacky) and bobs your uncle.

Yeah its either grit your teeth and deal with the pain of your skin being taken down layer by layer use tacky sleevles which is horrendous, use duct tape, get a sleeve of some sort or old sock with the end cut off and wrap that with tape,or do what I did,I got some old wellington boots cut off the leg bits measured around my arms, cut to measure,I then got some straps like luggage straps but for trailers you know the ones that you pull and it tightens.I stuck those to the boot rubber and stuck the off cuts over the straps,I used industrial strength glue...this has work thus far :-) :-) :-) especially for repping work and you apply the tacky to the rubber sleeves instead of your arm :-) :-) hope this helps even if its hard to understand.I may try and get some pics up.

That is a good question and I'm not sure it might depend on the comp but I use what I've made for train in primarily coz my forearms start too sting like crazy and tiny spots of blood star coming thru.if you can use strength sleeves like shaws or Samson sleeves why not :-)

Or home bargains for 99p a roll, that's what I use anyway, one roll does one arm just nicely.

They have recently had some new investment from an unknown source in Warrington, with a fresh new pricing strategy, as they do not want to be lazy corporate sell outs and rip people off, all items are now 99p.

Goats sold separately
