I always figured once you got past a certain level of strength a degree of common sense would take over and people would stop pretending they used to be stronger than you. Cleary I was wrong.

Not unless your the size of a f**king bus mate.

Anyone who is of average size such as myself will get it forever - it matters little what you can actually lift. Because they look at you and think I`m bigger than this guy so it stands to reason I must be able to lift more than him .

Gods honest truth =
The other week I was training with Wilmot (20 stone bodybuilder) I squatted 260kg x 3 and then he squatted 260kg x 3 .. A guy who was sat there and seen the whole thing come up to me and said "I don`t know how you can train with that BEAST, Doesn`t it piss you off how strong he is"

BUT because he`s 20 stone and has 22" arms their minds can so much easier digest what they see .

I find it interesting

When they say "you should have seen me mate" I don't get why some of you bigger or stronger fellas don't say "you should have seen me! Before MY injury" hahaha. Wonder what they'd say to that.

I once got asked what I could bench and I rounded down considerably to 180kg just to be more casual about it.

To which he replied... I think thats in lbs mate, as my mate is a world champion weightlifter and can only do a bit more than that, and proceeded to tell me how his arms were like my legs and that he was asked to be a body guard for the royal family and actors of high importance, and that he once fought loads of gypsies at once.

I didn't even reply, I just stared through the bloke in disbelief at the words coming out of his mouth.

Funny thing is, If I told him I lifted 90kg he would of told me he pressed a 100. If I had told him In benched 200, he would have said 210 etc. You get these guys who always has done better or knows someone who is better.

I had a friend who did this to me when I was a raw bencher, continued doing it when I started equipment, he stopped when I said I did 205kg. He also claimed a 460kg squat in a smith machine below parallel.

It also makes me laugh when people quote numbers for the big 3 that just don't tally, one man said he did 210, 230, 320 at 100kg.

I was at work a few months ago when a guy started going on about how big his mate was, telling me all about him. I think he was 6ft 5 and 20 stone. (Not that heavy for that height in my opinion lol).

So I went along with it saying "ye massive that". Then I told him my friend was pretty big too. I went onto Facebook and showed him eddie hall and claimed he was my mate. The guy at work said to me eddie is pretty big but not as big as his 6ft 5 20 stone mate lol

Cannot f**king stand people like that!!

You're big but his mate bigger
You just watched a new film, but he's seen the sequel which hasn't even come out yet.
You got a fast bike, his mates got the same one but race tuned and 100mph faster

etc etc.. so much bulls**t.

Was at it's worst when I used to work doors, drink only emphasised the bulls**t.

'Yeah maaate, it's a difficult job I used to do it myself like but I got sacked for beating the s**t out of this bloke like' - f**k OFF

'You're a big lad aren't ya, my cousins f**king maasive though. He'd eat you for breakfast' - f**k OFF

and my favourite..

'How much you getting paid? 10, 11, 12 pound an hour? I can get you some real work, make you £500 in a night' - says the chavvy little wannabe gangster who thinks he's made as f**k. - f**k OFF!

This is spot on..there is a lad at our gym who trains strongman and he is pretty strong another bloke just joined and he looks in OK knick.one of the chavs came over to me and said earrr do you think Mr x can lift as much as the new guy I'm using my inner voice at this point.as the new guy has only ever bench 110k and Mr x is around the 160 mark for reps and why coz the new guy looked a bit more pleasing to the eye.

You know when someone is good because they make it look easy. As a result of this the man in the street genuinely believe that they can do 3hr marathons, 6 minute miles and 12 sec 100m. The same goes for lifting, or anything else that they can't understand through lack of actual experience. How many times do you hear 'Audley Harrisons s**t', "Tyson Fury hasn't beat anyone"?

Pffft.

This stuff is always good for a laugh. Thing is I have heard codswallop from people whom are involved in the lifting scene and should know better.
