5 odd wks post op

Started putting some weight through my knees again

Last wk

20" pulls up to 250 triple, back and knee was fine grip was the fail, no doms or knee inflammation next dayHappy

Sat

Back squats just above parallel 2 x knee sleeves on R, hadn't planned weights so went with feel, up to 160 x 3 , slow descent and stand up, knee felt good, took shoes off to better control tracking of knee, severe doms for 2 days , been 5-6 wks, probably the longest duration I've gone without some kind of weighted squat for 23 yrs.

1 handed muscle snatch, up to 66 x1x2 LH, 58.5 x1x3 RH

Mon

4 mths since I logged anything here.

Training been steady. Competed in my first ever powerlifting comp last mth Scottish unequipped GBPF totalling 617.5 with a 190, 157.5 & 270 @93 on the button. Pleased enough but with slightly more understanding of where my 1RM was and so better weight selection think I could have pushed it to nearer 640,maybe next time. Also had my first drug test in 12 yrs.:-)
Going to keep pushing this yr and see how close I can get to a 700 unequipped total before probably concentrating on track and field again, injuries permitting. Will keep lifting if I do to maintain but just not the same time commitment that will probably allow me continue improving.

SUMMARY Highlights from last 7 days

Deads up to 230 x 8 grip failed on 8 I know I have 10 there now with straps. PB is 240 for 10 if I can achieve that again don't think 300 will be a mile away which will be a life time PB. raw or otherwise.

Bench up to 5 x5 @ 137.5. Booby tendons been pretty tender since so going to back off for a few wks.

Squats up to 175 front for a single, 5 x5 170 back, never much fun, knee limitations becoming problematic, going to have figure out a warm up stretch and limited workout routine that let's me function next day.

Cleans up to 5 x 3 @ 105, finding a groove with these again full cleans don't aggravate knee at all@ it's a funny old game.

Snatch mix of power and split, 5 x3 @ 70 don't think I will ever figure these out but will plough on regardless.

Training looking good- 300 dead would be huge, can't be far off either!

last wk training highlights

Sat Squat

warmed up with hang snatch triples to O-head squats on last rep of each,up to 70 kg.
Bought some wraparound neoprene knee sleeves that have turned out to be a blessing as I can target compression over the problem area.
after warm up worked triples up to 180, then 190 x 2, 200x2, 170x8, 160x7, light plyos and stretching to finish.

Odds on sods Mon Tue,

Wed Bench

the old guitar strings have been tight of late but felt good on this day, so after much light flys and foam rolling, 60x20, 80x12, 100 x 5, 120 x 3, 130 x 3, 140x 2, 150 x 1, 155x1, 160x1, 165x1 wouldn't have passed a comp, but came down under control and back up without stalling, will take it, 140x5, 120x10. Incline fly's 30x6,40x6,47.5x10

Thu DL

Warm up with full cleans, and plenty of stretching. 40x5x3 60x5x2,80x3x2,100x3x1,110x3x1.sit in the hole last rep each set.

hook grip clean pulls, 130x3,160x3,190x3,

Deads, 210x3, 230x3, 250x6

good stretch and foam.

Had to brush the cobwebs off this log.

Anyway old dog new tricks and all that, after my enjoyable foray into powerlifting which I will continue, Im going to add to my bucket list and hopefully do a weightlifting comp next yr.

My nemesis Snatch, after quite a few failed attempts over the years, ive finally managed to stretch myself into a half descent position where I can receive the bar in the bottom position, although far from perfect its workable and as I up my reps range and weights it will hopefully become more and more if not natural at least halfway comfortable.

a lot of shoulder stretching, and hip mobility required to even find position,

Over head squats with bar x many,
Snatch, reps x sets x w
5 x 3 x 40, 5 x 2 x 50, 5 x 2 x 60, 5 x 1 x 65, 5 x 1 x 70,

Front squats, 3 x 100, 2 x 120, 2 x 130, 2 x 140, 1 x 150, 3 x 155.
