Has he given you any glute activation to do as you warm up? That's made a big difference in my glute activation as I lift.

now as much as this killed me inside, I think I could not deadlift for a good 2 months or so and as long as I am doing these carpetbagger box squats my strength will actually improve

The unhappy kind of gayness about your deadlift feeling like that Sir. I hope that your carpet bagging gives you the ability to gain strength whilst resting the sore bits right enough.

thanks chap, the idea is actually work on the painful bit. to e honest I don't fully understand it but I think its something like my hip joints were off a bit, they were put back in place and now it still hurts but should be able to start recovering. unfortunately it looks like I wont be able to deadlift for a while but this doesn't mater too much. the carpet bagging I believe is to strengthen the muscles that stabilize the offending joints, however will have the added benefit of getting me jacked and tan.

*disclaimer* I might be wrong about all of that

Seems a bit odd that you have to do those high widestance Winstrol squats when you allready train sumo deadlifts.

About the glute activation though. Have you tried the couch stretch? How is it for you? A world of pain or kinda "meh"?

Also, can you do this exercise and feel it mostly in your glutes and not quads or hamstrings?
