severn valley nailed. And it will be my last novice comp Happy

The comp was well run, interesting events which i havent tried before and appreciated getting the chance to try them out, and most of all, the MC and the organisers kept the day running well and it was a fun day out for competetors and spectators.

It was a really hot day though, and that made me suffer before the events even started! My fitness and breathing took a hit from that...

But in all it went better than i thought, carrying events were a disappointment. And i realised again I am not very fit Grin

Event by event account, though i dont know the exact results and placings until they post them online, i'll post them when they do.

Farmers walks, 100kg per hand for 40m fastest time. I was not as fast as in training, cant shift blame, i am just not a fast guy Happy The fact that it was on grass was no doubt a factor, and the fact that i forgot my trainers home, so wore hiking shoes (not too bad in the end).

Viking press, estimated weight in hands approx 90-95kg - went suprisingly well, nailed 11 reps even if it was quite a struggle in the end, somehow managed to dig deep. Funny that i actually thought i got 6 reps, but guys told me different! Dont know how i managed to pass out for 5 reps time...

Viking press needs work in future, there is definitely a technique in it which took me few reps to figure out, and i made some mistakes as well.

Walk of pain carrying 95kg milk churn for distance - quite painful actually Grin Took a wrong grip and my fingers were hurting from the start, and i was thinking "i dont think i will go very far..." Grin

Hoist - a wildcard, did not know how i would do, so just went all out. Ended up sharing a second place with a disco pumper bas***d Kryptonite V with 11! An honour i think Grin Interesting event, made some mistakes which i would try to avoid next time. Like sometimes i was just inches away from a rep, and i pulled with all strength because i didnt watch the rope/bag at all, and ended up wasting energy. Nice event though.

100kg Stone over yoke for reps - last event so nothing but all out will do. Got a few reps in one motion which was the strategy. Fitness was giving in, but what can you do, just continued nailing reps. 7 reps in the end.

In all, 4th place out of 17 which i am really, really bloody suprised to be honest. I didnt think about my placing during the comp, just enjoyed the day and nailed an event by event, and in the end it wasn't too bad! And there were a lot of damn strong guys there, so this was by no means an easy 4th place.

I think 4th place from a comp like this means no more novice comps. Time to start placing at the bottom in the Opens!

Have to say, i am a b it glad to start my lighter backdown routine build up now Grin And also not eating as much as I have been for the past 3 months.

Nice work you disco scum! Tongue

Great to make such a high place, and do well in events that you weren't sure of before. Time to hit the opens, as you have said.

not sure mate, not the absolute strength, as in max strength, and seems like my rep strength and conditioning was better than i originally thought (or maybe its just the comp which makes me dig extra energy up, that, and almost a litre of caffeine drink Grin )

But the main factor from FB was that i was not nervous about this. I was so nervous at FB and this felt like nothing like it. That made me much calmer and also seems like my strategy and technique was much better as well.

you can judge it yourself, heres the video Wink

Outstanding mate. Particularly impressed by the way you were throwing that stone around.
