What do people do to keep their general fitness up? With dodgy knees the lower the impact the better for me. I was thinking about going on 2 walks a week for about 30 mins each time? Bearing in mind I have a very sedentary lifestyle other than lifting.

When you say conditioning, do you literally just mean *not being a fat f**k* or do you like actually mean conditioning work for a sport?

I mean like not being a fat f**k, combining diet with this 'conditioning' (maybe it was the wrong word) but hopefully increasing general fitness when doing it

buy some decent walking boots a pair of cycling shorts pack all your food for the day and head off into the country side every Sunday amazing how much difference some fresh air and nice scenery can do for your mind and body after a week of slugging it out in a s**thole gym everynight

Prowler push and pull if your gym has one. I dont cardio and Im fitter than most, I put this down to prowler work and supresetts.

Having said that, a good walk out will do you good, just watch out for the woods at night and the doggersWink

This! If it's just exercising to get out the house there's nothing better than a bike ride, doesn't even have to be fast or difficult just go and cycle to somewhere you've not been before or for a long time near where you live. Sorts your life out and gets you ready for a f@#kin whopping roast dinner on a Sunday afternoon.

Best conditioned and least of a fat f**k I've been in recent years in when I was doing BJJ. Find an activity/sport and do that once a week, if it's something enjoyable and interesting you'll stick with it. And then there's the bonus of developing a skill if you pick something like a martial art, or swimming or climbing or something.

thank you for the suggestions, I would love to go on a walk in the countryside, or if my knees could take it pick up a martial art. Swimming is also a nice idea! Its interesting to see what other people do - definitely need to do something

Doing something that uses your whole body in a way that challenges balance, flexibility, co-ordination etc really helps fill in "the gaps" that only lifting weights leaves. It ties everything together and makes your body feel a whole lot better.

If you want to stick to indoors could be martial arts like has already been suggested, boxing, some kind of gymnastics or even dancing!

or for something that lets you get outdoors, simple playing football or sprinting. These help recovery imo, cycling is fun but I think it hinders recovery and doesn't have the benefit of using your whole body like other stuff.

Best thing about BJJ is the amount of time you spend off your feet. Worst thing is the effect of armbars and the like on pressing.
