Neil, I don't go to the bank every time a cheque arrives. They are paid in after contest day when all monies are collected.

No worries. There is a slight advantage to lifting later in the day, it's just a long time after the weigh-in.

Just need to factor in some lunch now.

How does it follow that someone entering a comp last minute won't have trained for it?
And why should lifters only enter comps they have trained for?
Many lifters do not make a decision about entering competitions they have specifically trained for until the last minute.
And many lifters enter competitions they have not specifically trained for.
Most lifters also do not perform library deadlifts and even more put metal and rubber on the same bar.

I actually agree witha post of yours. Crazy times. My first two comps were I decided to do about 3 days beforehand.

I prefer to think "cannot" rather than "do not"

"Cannot be arsed to" is probably nearer the truth.

this was a great comp. a lot of lifters so a long day but brilliantly run. the spotters in particular did a fantastic job, full of encouragement and praise for good lifts. if i wasnt carrying so many injuries i would have helped with the loading but i just couldnt risk it. next time though.
met some old mates and made some new ones. given the state my body was in i am happy with my own performance too. a few PBs are always good Happy

It's a dangerous combination, that and my bouts of metathesis after several hours on the microphone!
Technology could provide a solution, the self adjusting squat rack that wirelessly connects to the laptop.
Thanks for your help today, much appreciated the sentiment of your posts regarding spotting.

don't know any results yet but well don't to everyone who took part, if it was anything like last years then it was brilliant! shame I couldn't bee there, hopefully next year I will carpetbag my way back up to the mighty north and be there to impress everyone with my large traps, filthy deadlift and enjoyable beard (i will have all those things by that time).

I just want to say a big thanks to Bryn and everyone else involved in running the comp. It was very well run and although I didn't have my bests days lifting ever I really enjoyed it.
