Member 4114, 355 posts | BigMacca said:I did this last night as I was surprised that the Unit weighed lighter after the headstand. So I jumped on my scales (£500 Seca calibrated bad boys) Start weight was 85.05kg - No amount of leaning forwards or backwards altered the reading, once all movement had stopped they read 85.05kg. Stood on my head for 3 minutes whilst watching the Big Bang Theory Jumped back on the scales again and they read 85.05kg - No amount of leaning forwards or backwards altered the reading, once all movement had stopped they read 85.05kg So I do declare it to be a whole load of tosh! can confirm, I am scales.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22043 posts | Macca, your blood is obviously extremely viscous. You are f**ked. Nice knowing you. Smallsy, you're just strange. That became obvious when your attitude towards dogs sticking their heads out of car windows was revealed.

Scotbasher - forever Member 59, 2115 posts | I'm thinking that this has more to do with the repeatability of the scales than loss of mass. Perhaps certain types of scales are more likely to give a different reading than others, I think that the good medical scales use 4 potentiometers that cater for the slight movement of the person being weighed where as those with a single potentiometer may give a different reading if you lean forward etc. I wonder if your centre of gravity is much higher from standing on your head?

It works due to the fact that people don't stand perfectly upright. they lean forward to see their weight. With the higher centre of gravity. There are force diagrams on the link that explain more.

That's pretty much what I said - it also explains why I didn't see any difference on my high end scales, it doesn't matter where you stands on them out how far forward you lean, they always read the same
