Why does The Machine not just nail 105's comps? Seems silly for anyone of any experience whatsoever to nail this unless out for glory or a cardio session (no offence to anyone Happy)

Farmer Walk 30m fastest time = 90k each hand

Deadlift 2inch bar olympic height max reps in 60sec = 170k

Seated arm over arm pull into a drag : 4x4 30m pull / 30 m drag

Atlas Stone for reps 90sec limit:

I`m very new to your strange sport BUT I`m doing the Northern Qual for 105kg i`ve heard alot of people "slate" this competition but nobody have a go at the 105kg why is this ?

if you look at the events i think in comparision they`re not a million miles differant we`re using 100kg log less than our bodyweight They`re using 90kg frame equal to they`re bodyweight .

That said i don`t know what frame press is ?

my humble opinion, the overhead is ok, stone will be ok most likely, arm over arm as well. Farmers set to 90 i guess because of equalling the bodyweight, but u105s go much heavier than that, and opens is debatable (120kg ish).

deadlift is too low in the most obvious way in comparison, if u105 is 220, opens usually 260-280 and national opens 300ish.

but still, it is what it is, and the nationals will no doubt be much heavier i would bet.

I personally think if those weights are for a qualifier for Englands strongest man then they are a bit light.

I have seen people say that the weights for the 105s are a bit light too, so I dont think its hating on the under 90s guys.

Thing is, as lifters get lighter, they dont get weaker proportionally. Case in point, in both powerlifting and oly lifting, the guys in the 90kg class lift around 90-93% of the 105s (and those arent even fair comparisons seeing as in Oly is 85 vs 105 and in PL its 90 v 110).

These weights are a good 10-15% down IMO.

That being said, I dont actually care, im never going to be under 90kg and as others have said, anything that gets more people lifting and competing has to be a good thing.

you pull the 4x4 like and arom over arm event then you drag it the other 30m

frame press is more than likely a very like yoke loaded up so that it can be presses kinda like the safe lift that they have done at the worlds

You may be right but in oly and power the 90kg and 85kg casses are some of the most fascinating i personally would pay money to watch my little mate Kev pull a 4x4 that would be a dream .. I am gonna make sure the little f**ker enters this comp for sure .. HaHa i`m buzzin with this comp

A couple of thoughts...

Some of the competitors will be around 70kg so maybe worth thinking of the average competitor as 80kg rather than someone like me or Tony dropping some weight to compete at 89.9kg. These comps have generated a lot of interest and could well benefit the sport as a whole in the long run.

As stated, its a qualifier so the weights can go up significantly for the final, its a new thing so I am sure the organisers will make adjustments if they find they are required. The only clarification needed is whether it is Novice U90kg or open U90kg.

With regard to the U105kg weights/events, I have worried they are too light but then there are two weight progressions to come for the England's & Britain's. Potentially (I realise the events will likely be different) you could end up at the Britain's with 110-120kg log, 240kg-260kg deadlift, 130kg farmers, 340kg yoke etc. So what we have started with makes sense to me.

The qualifiers are attracting a good mix of experienced competitors and newcomers. Numbers are looking very good considering some didn't think there would be enough U105's to warrant the qualifiers, we'll see on the day if the weights are pitched right or not and take it from there, I am sure the same will be done with the U90s.

i agree with Ben on the 105 weights for the qualifier but we definately need a heavy style 105 comp this year to show there are a lot of 105 boys out there capable

one of the reasons myself and Dave Meer wanted to start the under 9okg class was in my oppion the top level 105kg guys can compete with some of our top strongman. so we wanted to give the littler guys a chance to compete.

whats so wrong with that, If no one wants to compete I can just as easy cancel the event, it will make my life easier, as it means adding 4 competitions to the 10 I already run. Its this type of b**ching that makes me think WHY THE HELL I PUT SHOWS ON, must of you are just talk, at least people like Will give it their best and enjoy competeing with other guys,

People ask why i don't post on sites any more reason being, read this nothing but so called man being little girls b**ching.

in online discussions it is easy to get the impression that the feedback is negative - even if there would only be one or two people having the negative opinion, and majority positive.

So better to just stick to the positives - the number of athletes attending is the real measure anyway, not how it is received on online forums.
