Thing said:he could just be fat...

as for Shaw winning the stones, i think that has to go to Thor based on what i have seen of both of them on the stones when there injury free.

i think its going to be close for the top 6 TBH where fractions of seconds and mm will be the differance.

If they put the stones so they're heavier...ie 500lb last stone, then Shaw would win. But it will be usual of high platforms and 400lb last stone.

But he defo lost his pound face and a f**k load of size! How old is he now? Defo not a contender anymore though

Thing is though, he will definitely be there because he has qualified and he isn't going to turn up small. He can still do a 200kg+ log and 410kg deadlift(depending on the hitching rule) and be good at moving events. Should be interesting to see how he does turn up, it isn't looking good though because he needs to get heavier than his usual weight really to stop losing points to the 400lb freaks.

Honestly as Thing said previously, lot of the events will be won by franctions. It's getting more competitve each year. Z will be favourite and rightly so, but honestly there are a number of guys who could do it, depending on form and maybe a wee bit of luck!

Lalas is a great strongman but I did not think he would place top 2 last year to be honest. Anything can happen!

Can he really? Don't get me wrong I always liked poundcake but judging by vids and last few outings he's way way off what he was capable of. Don't doubt he done 200+ log but what comp has he done one recently?

2 months of solid training, juicing, gym pump and downward lighting and he could get back to there. It is more wishful thinking though. He peaked at 2010 Arnold's, he then proposed and hasn't seem to be as hungry since, plus he has had lots of injuries.

2012 Arnold training vids he done it twice and was stupidly close at doing about a 208kg log at the Arnold's that year...so I think in that form he could hit a 200kg log. He is just obviously not in that form. I just think with his mentality he will not turn up to WSM in awful shape.

While were on about American strongmen, I am excited to see what form Oberst is in. The British Giant's is actually the perfect comp to see how he will be because it has a max deadlift. If he does 390kg or more, I think it is a very good sign for the future.

If you check his twitter and 2nd pic, he looks massive. Is he heading towards the dangerous weight zone where they have to lie for medical reasons? Or am I just thinking he is bigger than he is.

They all say the same thing...'I don't weigh myself too often, I don't take much notice'...Yet they obviously know.

I agree, Oberst could prove a great strongman, especially being another 6' 8er.

Well it was...if he gets that up to 390kg for Giant's...it means he is heading in the right direction and fast, his pressing is not in doubt. He will be quick as well coming from an American Football background.

I said it in another thread, but he seems to be another Mike Jenkins.
