Just do this exercise 3-4 sets for 5 reps before your squat jerk.

I am trying to get that flexible.

The thing is, the squat jerk and stuff like that isn't half as "upper body only" as people think. My hips are too tight, but my upper body is not. Same reason why my snatches I catch with my knees very far forward and my hips right between my feet, instead of (like that guy) that bum is back behind the feet almost.

If you can get into the right positions when you are standing, but you lose it as you go down, it is tightness in the hips and possibly the thoracic spine, but the latter will show up when you are standing too.

I tried doing this with a broomstick against a powercage, although not the same, when I quarter squatted all I got was a ton of tightness in my thoracic region. It'd be awesome just to be able to do a normal squat jerk haha!

Kelly Starett or whatever has that "man test" where he holds two or one kettlebells above his head then over head squats it as a test to determine what area needs to most work afaicr (shoulders, or hips).

Speaking of which he's coming to Glasgow and I think the tickets are $300.

Good for him he has helped a tonne of people. I get that tightness too but couls it be your back compensating??

God knows, I need to work on both areas, I was just f**king about. I wonder if this exercise is one of those things where you can't do them with a broomstick but can weighted.

Even though the weight is light, that exercise looks extremely hard!
