anyone ever used? looking at something like these:

my 'olympic bench' is great but obviously doesn't fit in the cage. my utility bench is a bit flimsy and the legs at the front bottom are right where my feet need to be. would something like this be worth a punt?

I would say that it depends on howmany different height settings it has.

For example in the current powercage i train in, previously the safety bars where either too high or too low so they wouldnt of worked

That was a few years ago and now that iv put some extra weight on, when i arch the safetys are like an inch lower than the top of my chest so if i failed i would just have to loose the arch. With those stands you would of course have to slide yourself under the bar if the safety catchers where used.

Edit: in that case buy a better bench that can be used in your cage lol.

look for some squat stands with safeties, for similar price they're rated to about 180kg

I have those spotter stands. I only occasionally use em tbh. Just for peace of mind when going for a 1rm or similar. They have saved me once or twice. Better than the occasion I didn't use em but should have. Lol

I paid about £30 second hand.

I used Builders Trestles for a while until I picked up a cheap powercage.

The 15 euro B&Q new ones are rated to 100-200kg, but the builder providers ones are usually up to 500kg. They are always up on ebay second hand for peanuts, but look to see if they have been bent and straightened. They're Good to practice sandbag loading too.

This sort of thing:
