#biggef Member 5263, 3492 posts SQ 260, BP 195, DL 260715.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | So a mate of suggested 8/5/3 to me and it defo worked so it was 8 reps 5 sets once a week but dips later in the week with over head pressing for 4 weeks then 5 reps for 4 weeks then triples for 3 weeks . but bench was just flat bench then tricep and Delts the next chest day in the week was ohp/decline bench and dumbbells. It work well for me :-) | ||

Bit early to say for me though and last time I used an overinflated 1rm and struggled You know I think it is a few of my friends have done exactly this and I have to :/ I think its to do with you CNS when your working with lower reps your weights are going to be higher and if your going heavy on all lifts on every exercise your CNS won't recover this is just my view and I'm no expert but what I tend to do is go 8 for volume 5 a middle ground 3 for all out strength reps then deload for a week then go for 1rm. So say i m doing deadlift and I'm trying to build it up I'd put bench on a back burner maybe do 6>8 x5 but dealift 5/3/1 if you get me so your CNS isn't taxed all over. Having said that I am a bit of an ape when it comes to all this but I watch some of the big lifter at my gym and this what they do :-) :-) | ||

suited and strapped Member 1162, 774 posts SQ 220, BP 132.5, DL 240592.5 kgs @ 117kgs UnEq | I have see good progression in my bench lately, I've been doing Wednesday bench 3x5 80% max strict press 5x8 60% max rear delt raise & other accessories Sunday strict press 3x5 80% max bench 5x8 60% max rear delt raise & other accessories nothing exciting but its working, gone from 117.5 to 125 (estimated 130 based on reps) in 6 weeks | ||
