Funny you should post this, earlier today my friend and I were having a pointless argument regarding crossfit. He was stating they are highly trained and I was just stating lu xiaojun could clearly win at the crossfit games. He argues he couldn't .....

He wouldn't. Not without a lengthy period of specifically training for it anyway. Even then there's no way of knowing unless he actually did it, so it's a moot point really.

He's a weightlifter, and as far as I know weightlifters rarely train more than about 3 reps...

So why exactly would he win at crossfit??

I know... Its just a matter of opinion. Its not like its not been done in other sports before like lesnar in ufc ect.... Don't forget, I pretty sure Olympics athletes are on another level. Not to turn the tread into a debate. Happy

Love a good debate, lets say that there Chinese Training methods. Out of the 16 different events that the current World Champion in crossfit excelled at and number 2 were all the strength events therefor I'm sure the weightlifting events would be of ease for lu xiaojun.

Lets take the event of snatch for 30 reps at 135lbs, I'm quite sure that would be extremely light weight for him. From all his years squatting I'm assuming he will have a good broad jump as it carries over on the different events.....

Of course it is an endurance sport but this guy has been training all his life I'm sure he is very adaptable to the conditioning events been a world class athlete. It's not like I've selected a 300lb weightlifter.

That's fair enough if he trained crossfit for a while but he couldnt just walk straight in and win!

Good weightlifters have posted excellent times for 30 reps of light snatches... and were wrecked for hours if not more afterwards.

Doing well at the CF Games is about doing well at shortish heavyish workouts several times a day for a few days in a row. That takes getting used to, and is quite different from training for Oly lifting twice a day.

People tend to do well at things they have trained for.
The carry over to other things is often less then expected.

Have you actually seen the crossfit games? Full of mad s**t like long distance running up small mountains in baking hot sun, super setted with swimming and bike riding a bit like a triathlon.

Then you have odd things like softball throws chucked in.

I dont think a real high level athlete like Lu Xiaojun would ever risk doing such a wreckless and dangerous event.

Olympic Superstars was on tv the other day. Needless to say most of them are useless at anything that isn't specifically their sport.
