was running short of time this morning so just did my benching and had to shoot off to work. did the assist stuff in the afternoon(pin press, weighted dips). clearly the assist stuff was easier as my triceps had time to recover. is there any reason not to do this regularly? would mean i could get a good bit stronger on the assist stuff and the carry over to the main lifts. i train in my garage so its not like going to the gym twice a day.

I'd say why not.

Having to take 2 showers and change twice would annoy me though.

No probs. You could do a main lift am pm if you wanted too.

I did this for a while. It was a pain in the arse tbh. And it only took me 8 minutes to walk to the gym.

i work split shifts in a stifling kitchen so have 2 baths/showers a day anyway so that's an issue. also makes it reasonably easy to train before work and during my time off in the afternoon. i think i might stick with it for bench and see how that progresses, then maybe look at doing it with other lifts.

If I had a garage gym I would .

I shower morning and night anyway .. So I'd wake up train, eat, shower, work, home, train .. Yay

Be good to have my own house and garage to do that .

Don't need spotters, that's what power racks are for.

I did this for about a year, in the home-gym, morning session was done right out of bed. Then shower and eat.

Didn't work any better or worse than what I do now. If all you're doing is splitting the workload then it's just simply causing unnecessary inconvenience for being fresh for a half-session. Debatable how much more you would get out of that long term.

If I had time to do that again, to really make the most out of the increased training time I'd be looking at pushing the volume up to take advantage of the extra training time.

I train twice a day sometimes. For instances on mondays I do pressing in the mornings before work, and squat and dead after work. Also, if I'm tight for time in the mornings I might decide to come back for accessory stuff after work.

It works for me as my gym is about 2 minute walk from my offices, so it's super convienent to train whenever i fancy. Wouldn't do it otherwise.
