I'm looking for something to support my elbows and knees when lifting, not bothered if they add anything to my lifts of not more just to make sure my joints dont implode. what do you prefer?

I would go with sleeves if I were you unless your planning on powerlifting in wraps

Don't know if its just me but only time I have ever had knee pain from squatting is when I have squatted in wraps although I do have them super tight

Must be good wraps if they give you 65kg over your deadlift Roll-Eyes

With numbers like that you should look at getting some coaching. 285 squat is strong stuff, assuming it's to a good depth, you need to work out how to get that strength into your pulls!

totally agree, yea iv got good depth i wnt squat unless i do it properly.. never really deadlifted untill the past yr when iv become interested in strongman, iv always been a good squatter. glad this has come up because up until now iv always wondered y most sugdeners hav weak(ish)squats compared 2 theyr deads..

Sounds like it may simply be a case of.practise and getting a decent length of time training the lift under your belt.

Regarding the discrepancy between sq/dl, you have to bear in mind for most of the strongmen on here squatting is just an assistance movement, and many won't train it with the same %s that they do with deadlifting. My best unequipped lifts are 285sq and 310dl, and personally I think this ratio is a little higher than 'normal'. I'm just a better squatter than puller. So with your 285 squat I would certainly be looking at how to get your pull up to and over 300.

i agree with u with the practising! iv worked my ass off with deads, gone from 190kg to 210kgx5 in a few mnths, i think my 1RM mayb 230-240kg now(hopefully) does the persons body shape hav anything 2 do with it ie shorter u r its easier etc?

There are a few factors, not necessarily height, more limb length to cross sectional area ratio in my opinion.

Can't do a lot avout it though so just crack on haha Grin

VG, is the difference not simply what you would except to see with an equipped lifter, since they get a lot more out of the suit for squats than deadlifts?

I know the degree of difference might be fairly large but there seems to be plenty of equipped lifters on here whose squats are far higher than their deadlifts.
