MikeBromby1 | Would a heavily fatigued lower back cause you to fail on lunges?? | 05-03-2012 @ 21:10
Member 2021, 556 posts SQ 220, BP 145, DL 302.5667.5 kgs @ 103kgs UnEq | I did 3 different dead lift variations today finishing with 17 inch pulls which really hit my lower back hard, I then went onto barbell lunges and worked upto a final set of 105 which was supposed to be for 6 each leg ( I did 100 last week and was heavy but managed all reps) basically I didn't get a single rep and nearly got sandwiched as I tried to come back up, had to bail the bar behind me. will it have been the lower back that caused this? I didn't have a belt on either as I like to use them to build full stability. I'm asking because I deffo want to avoid that happening again, i can't see the 5 kg increase making that much of a difference?

sumo ?? no ! no ! Member 1399, 557 posts | Lunges require your glutes to work. If you'd been doing partial deadlifts beforehand your glutes would have been pretty fried.

as crimson as my last victims underclothing..... Member 899, 11329 posts SQ 180, BP 132.5, DL 190502.5 kgs @ 118kgs UnEq | If I'd done 18 sets of deads, I reckon Id be struggling to do bodyweight with the lunges. You were probs just "fried" from the deads I reckon.
