You only work 195 days per year, though, don't you?

Actually no, I am contracted to work 217 days a year. Of the 17 days 'holiday' that i have contractually had since 1st September 2013, I have worked 9 of them. I also tend to work on Sundays (my only 'day off' a week for half of the year).

But your point was?

That teachers have a lot of holiday and are bad at time management.

It's wasn't the hours that messed me up it was the poor preparation I didn't have a set lunch break just ate when I could and if I didn't bring food with me it would f**k me up for the day

Wouldn't want to go back to that ever

You must be a very dedicated teacher. Or always behind on marking.

I graduate this year, and being a student I have bags of time to train whenever I feel, sleep all day, eat library etc etc with the odd lecture. I start my PGCE in september (to do teacher training) and I am dreading getting a placement school a long way front where I live.
Might have to get a home gym!

I used to live with a chef, he typically went out early afternoon and got back pretty late, so you'd likely have the mornings to train?

Looks like tiring work whenever you see tv shows etc., not sure how realistic they are though.

I just don't train if I work over 10hrs, I like to see my gf and dog etc, training isn't more important than the other things imo

Organisation is key, simple as that.

I work 6 if not 7 days a week, often 12 hour days (occasionally more), but can usually get my training, sleep and social life in.

Having food all prepped and tubbed up, making sure my bag has the correct kit and folders in, being aware of my diary in detail a week in advance etc are vital for me.

One of my pet hates is people who 'don't have time' to train and moan about it. Often it's a case of them managing or prioritising their time badly. If you'd rather sit and watch Eastenders in the evening, that's fine. That's your choice and it's entirely up to you. But you can't then use that as an excuse of 'not having time', your time is merely prioritised differently. To each their own.

If you want to do it, you'll find and make the time Happy

I worked 70+ hours a week for 2 years and it killed my training. Thurs, fri and sat I got around 3 hours sleep which f**ked me up till Wednesday then I had to do it all again. absolutely killed me off.

I work a rotating shift pattern - 2 earlies, 2 lates then 2 nights then 4 days off (once a month it's 3 off and an extra early)

My working day with travel is 11-12 hours long - I have 3 young kids, so lots of responsibility at home

I often get 3-4 hours sleep, rarely more than 7

I am quite weak, but have made progress like this

This sums it up.

On the days I work i'm up at 4.30, make half a dozen meals, get to work around 5.30, then eat my second feed, start work at six. Eat when I can (you only need 10 mins to get through a feed so don't worry about trying to fit in 30 minute lunch breaks), leave work at 6, head straight to the gym, finish training around 8pm, have a protein shake on the whey home, bath, feed and bed for about half 9. Rinse and repeat.

This works fine, and unless you plan to work and train 7 days a week still leaves time for a social life.

And one more thing to keep in mind, never underestimate the power of a nap, if you get a quite day at work, or have the place to yourself for half an hour then close your eyes and get some rest. I keep the passanger seat down in my car for just such occasions, if I get ahead in my work I disappear to the car park and close my eyes, even 20mins can make a world of difference.
