I'm very close to the sea. it's only about 6 miles as the crow flies but what's fantastic is that I'm also at over 600 feet altitude. During the times of all the chest illnesses that killed so many people back in the day, my town is the only one to escape the epidemic. I think that this was in part due to the clean air at reasonable altitude and also because we were very up market having both cobbled streets and pavements (pic below) https://lochgelly.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Lochgelly-BraeB042705002.jpg at the time where all of the other towns and villages had only dirt roads and no pavements. (pic below) https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2193/2514563344_0b6e5b092c.jpg In fact, in most of Scotland at that time, the majority of houses still had mud floors whilst my town was with elevated wooden floors and even rugs to cover the boards!

The ex principal of the high school turned historian upon retirement. He's done a lot of the history of social development in the area. Very educated man. Jack, I think there were a lot of people in the Victorian era who relocated to the seaside for the clean air.Back when I didn't know what my illness was, I relocated to the mountains of Spain for a time just outside a fantastic village named "El Fontanar" or The Fountain in our tongue. The air was hot and dry plus every day I would head to the natural fountain to get clean and healthy water. It did me some good.

![]() 'There was also a sausage in my mouth.' Member 2477, 16481 posts SQ 190, BP 130, DL 235555.0 kgs @ 83kgs UnEq | I just looked at the internet and it turns out vacuum cleaners cost many 10s of pounds. I also found out there is such thing as a "robot vacuum cleaner" which sounds very joey but as tends to be the case with these things, it probably wouldn't actually function that well. Anyway I just blew a hefty percentage of my Neills Household Objects budget to buy something that might come under the category of "Jacks Snacks" in the form of Dominos gullet pounders. This means I wont be able to buy a vacuum cleaner but I will be moon facing tomorrow. The roof of my mouth is red raw now and also I think I should stop typing. Heres a fun fact. the word "Hoover" is actually a brand name however it is often used to refer to any generic vacuum cleaner.
