Please then.. Following on from the other thread - Why the feck is their so many Powerlifting feds ?????

I can just about get my head around why there should be one !

But please somebody tell me why the hell there should ever be another.

Certain lifters didn't like the rules so they went off and made their own, then everytime someone didn't like one fed they made another one, now we have about 4 million!

Secondly I don't know

Lastly I think it would be good to have a fed where you lift in a ipf classic style but you also get points for having a nice time. Powerlifters don't seem very happy as a generalisation

Great Point and Well Founded !!!!

This may suprise a few people BUT i am lifting in this years British Powerlifting Championships !

There lies the problem BECAUSE people keep asking a very tricky follow up question that i cannot answer Tongue

Are you old enough to remember the British Weightlifting Guild (or something like that) in the early/mid 80s. Not good enough to compete in BAWLA, form your own weightlifting fed!

The guild's powerlifting arm became BDFPA (after being BPA - maybe .... BPsomething)

Reason for so many feds - drugs, equipment and disgruntlement !

It's not thinkable for any other sporting endeavour to have this many federations - please tell me you're lifting in the GBPF ??

there are really only 2 main ones ... GBPF and BPC , the rest are all wannabe offshoots
