Paul_D | Who doesn't drink? | 25-08-2009 @ 19:33
Hey mate, my name is Paul Dudley Member 632, 3628 posts SQ 200, BP 155, DL 282.5637.5 kgs @ 77kgs UnEq | Just intrested to find out who doesn't drink (alcohol obviously before some smart arse pipes up) and their reasoning behind their decision? I personally don't drink (once in a blue moon anyway), but am now thinking of turning to "the dark side". Reason for this is because I used to compete at a fairly high level in MMA, never really had much time to socialize and fighting was important to me so I didn't want to hinder my progress, I no longer fight and I'm in a uni environment that is focused on socialising (drinking being a big part of this, sad but true). Thoughts on the issue? How much do people think drinking affects performance (for a powerlifter say)? Paul

Sports an extremely muscular arse. Member 38, 6253 posts | I drink casually but not like when I was younger. I can't be arsed with dealing with hangovers anymore. A few here and there isn't a big deal in my opinion.

Me too - i havent been pissed since new years eve last year. Probably had a maximum of 30 bottles of beer this year which is nothing compared to the litres of vodka i used to drink every weekend when i was in my teens.

pissed up bull in a china shop Member 684, 319 posts SQ 205, BP 155, DL 275635.0 kgs @ 90kgs UnEq | Christ! Its always been my achillees heel. Kudos to all yous that don't drink or drink very little. I've been a heavy drinker since 18 years old, about 23 years at it. Of course if i didn't drink at all i'd have hit a 400 DL and put 230k overhead. That's my excuse anyway when i'm sat in me tartan sock on the commode.

Even his dad lifts more Member 388, 313 posts SQ 315, BP 210, DL 285810.0 kgs @ 98kgs Eq | i know how you feel Paul_D im at uni too, and drinking is the main social event. I do drink now and i enjoy having a drink. but i try and time it so my hangover is on days i dont have to train, and ill stop if i have a comp or something coming up. i think the key is moderation... getting off your face once in a blue moon isnt going to hurt, every week is a different story.
