We all seem to make quite a lot of short term goals, but it's not very often you see people posting up really long term goals - although I think I remember Tokar mentioning a 300kg deadlift eventually?

Some rather long term goals for me including winning the 2008 NW UE Junior 110kg class (and weighing in at the top end of it I might add!). I would also like to compete in the nationals that year and hopefully do ok as a junior.

Other long term goals, quite possibly many years ahead, include 227.5/160/272.5 unequipped. I think there is the potential for more, but it doesn't seem sensible to think about it!

I'm not sure if I'll try equipped lifting at some point down the line, but never say never.

I also want to learn some olympic moves at some point. A BW C&J would be a nice goal (given that it's unlikely to ever be my main focus).

With a bit of technique and a decent squat a BW clean and jerk shouldn't present much trouble.

My long-term PL goals are something like this:
272.5/182.5/330 @ 110kg (raw)
(I'm thinking 10+ years down the line)

less ambitiously I'd be looking at:
250/160/300 at the same BW

and to medal in national unequipped competitions.

Cool thread, i think in the very long term i would like to get a 700kg total raw, perhaps something like this:

Squat: 250
Bench: 140
Deadlift: 310

I dont have a clue how long it would take, obviously would depend on a lot of things.

Goals for end 2007 would be roughly:

Squat: 182.5kg / 400lbs
Bench: 110kg
Deadlift: 250kg

Or if i could scrape 550kg total that would be fantastic!

By the way what are the totals needed to enter a national competition as junior and senior?

Long term goals:

Gym:

Push press 150kg
Bench 180kg
Squat 227.5kg
Deadlift 330kg

All raw

Strongman:

200kg stone to any platform
160kg farmers 20m
400kg yoke 20m
137.5kg log press

I guess that I would like to be hitting these numbers in 7 years time or so. Maybe a little longer. It might also depend on whether I stay natural or not (it's not up to me - it's in my wife's hands! Roll-Eyes )

Now, i'll be brutally honest - i love powerlifting but at the moment i cant see myself competing year after year , the build up is very stressfull and can be harsh (especially if...well,you know)

i'll never make 90kg's - but i'll will compete at 100kg's

i plan on busting the 700kg total and then rethinking (mabie even , gulp , revisiting bodybuilding)

But you won't be a junior in 2008 Adam... you keep forgetting that you're a lot older than me.. hence the balding and mood swings and stuff Confused

I haven't really thought hard about long-term goals in terms of PL numbers, though 450/350/550 sounds nice, and not entirely unrealistic.

Some more definite long-term goals:
- being able to take bodyweight from the floor to overhead.
- get to the point where four/three/five plates are never-fail lifts.
- in the longer term, having relatively pain-free knees with fullish range of motion. Other joints also. General good mobility and reasonable condition (able to play recreational basketball for forty minutes at half-decent intensity).
- be not fat.

Interestingly, the layoff seems to have greatly improved my shoulder mobility. Which is nice.
