Weird memory thing

 Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22043 posts | I've always had an excellent long-term memory. For example, I can remember in detail dialogue from TV programmes I watched once as a child (30+ years ago). But, I get this weird thing where I remember images in reverse (mirror image). I recently acquired a strongman DVD of my only ever brief appearance on TV doing strongman (from 2009). I CLEARLY remember my friend on there being filmed from his right side when log lifting, but he's being filmed from his left side! This has happened SO MANY times. Scenes from TV shows that I CLEARLY remember turn out to be in reverse when I watch them years later! Weird. Does anyone else get this? | ||

Never paid much attention to TV image memories, but if I were to read something in a book and then go back and try to find it later, I would always know fairly precisely whether it was the left or right page and what part of the page to find it. Maybe this isn't relevant!On the other had I don't remember dialogue very well, maybe a person is geared one way or the other. | ||

Immanuel Kant introduced the concept that handedness can only be defined against an absolute space ('incongruent counterparts') - well worth reading. what that means is without that reference L+R are 'identical'... so if the brain doesn't 'encode' that absolute space itself and just uses relations (which is typical of organic memory.. load of links not like RAM) you lose that backdrop to differentiate. that's my cod theory anyway and sure if Immanuel Kant had access to Internet Porn, he'd find the indentical horn inducing effects of either of Lisa's Boobs relative to the other further validation of his theory. | ||
