Loads of chat about pretty much every other aspect of various disciplines of strength sports on here, but one (often overlooked) subject is weighing in. What do you all feel about this? To some it can be comp winning, to others simply a footnote detail. Most of us who have competed have had to endure the dreaded scales. Is it fair? Crooked? Vital? Unessecary? Sexy or just plain daft? What would you change about this?

Just never crops up does it?Angry

evil necessity imo , i wish i did'nt have to do it but i'd rather have to weigh in than have to compete against a 25 stone monster!

i like it!

i like the process of getting ready, dialling it in, all of it!

thats why its disappointing if the scales are just some argos scales 2-3kg off!

powerlifters seem to do it right, have their f**king digital high tech scales ready, and a guy with a clipboard.

Clipboard is a necessity!

agreed, weight limit comps should be for people who are that weight!

day before weigh ins only started cause boxers were dehydrating to make weight, then getting their brains scrambles cause the layer of fluid around the brain was diminished

I say, if you want to take that risk, then get your brain scrambled, a bit of personal responsibility!

There is no reason to do it in strongman, other than, they do it at worlds. It doesn't make any sense at all

x2.

its a U105 or U90 or whatever comp... not a "I was U105kg 4 hours or a day ago.. but im now 115kg.

Its like a bloke dressing up as a girl and turning up to a girls only comp for the gender check a day before, p[assing that and then turning up the next day with full beard etc ready to go, knowing nothing can be said as he was passed as a girl the day before.

guys, have you been reading the UKs 105 thread, thats where the discussion about this has already been raging for pages, and all your argumensts have been adressed.

And besides, banana, what the f**k does this have to do with you mate, or are you planning to drop 30% of your bodyweight? Grin

That's all well and good mate, but just remember that we will never be consistantly up with the rest of the World if guys are not heavier come comp day. If we except that then there should be no issue.

Just look back to Saddler's time, he was weighin in more on comp day, internationals of course.

i agree that to compete internationally, we will probably have to adopt the same rules etc but therefore it really isnt a U105/U90 comp, its a who can dehydrate best comp.

scrap the weight limits and be strongmen
