New year, new log.

For a number of reasons I have done very little training over the last few months. Should be getting a bit more free time and hopefully energy over the next few months so the aim is to get training consistently. The rest has done nothing to help my shoulder problems, in fact they're gradually getting worse and causing a lot of problems in my neck. Seeing as no training is making it worse I cant see that as a reason not to train. Will be going back to the docs to ask for surgery again and see how that goes. The hernia is here to stay for the foreseeable.

Have managed to get two sessions in at OSG over Christmas. The comeback begins!

Wednesday 22nd December

Pretty pleased with where my strength is after such a long lay off. Shoulder/neck area has felt as good since these sessions as at any time in the last 6 months so pretty happy with that too.

Onwards....

Whats the diagnosis on your shoulder?

I had a problem with mine, and the s**tty fat physio with no clue about sports told me to stop lifting weights. Like you it got worse as the muscle mass reduced, and of course it had been holding everything together to some degree.

It got to the point that it was too weak and sore to lift enought to get the mass back to help. I got sugery which worked well, but the reduction of muscle from the bad advice made the rehab harder. Its actually much stronger than the other one now, so I am happy with the eventual outcome.

Personally in your position I would push for the operation, and train as best you can, trying to build strenght all around the shoulder. In particular make sure that the chest strength does not dominate the upper back strength and pull the shoulder forward, this commonly makes shoulder injuries worse from what my doc said

Davy I'll bore you with the histroy when I have a bit more time, but basically both sides of my SC joint are permanently dislocated, the right side much worse than the left. Causes all sorts of problems with my lats/trap/neck/shoulder region.

Quick one today before heading back to London, but seeing as it was 45 squid more to go today than tomorrow, I'm gonna head back tomorrow.

Cheers boys!

Monday 3rd January

Quite tired, lethargic session today. Also woke up on Sunday with a really sharp pain in my right ribcage. Didn't get in the way of training at all but is seriously hampering sleep.

WG Chins
Bw x 5,5,5

Strict Press
50kg x 5,5
72.5kg x 2,2,2 - these were awful, although I have slowly been widening my grip where I am much weaker, still, shouldnt be this weak.

Deads
100kg x 8
140kg x 5
180kg x 1
210kg x 1
230kg x 1 - actually quite slow, the bar I pull on is so lifeless. 250kg by the end of Jan.

CG Bench
50kg x 10
70kg x 5
90kg x 5
110kg x 3

CG Chins
bw x 5,5,5

BTN Push Press
50kg x 5
70kg x 5
90kg x 3

Cuddles,
Take it you're based some of the time in Manchester mate?
I was referred to one of the best shoulder surgeons in the UK he's based near Hulme. Dr Len Funk (cool name) Cool he carried out blankarks lesion procedure on my left shoulder in November 2008

Once saw him even interviewed on sky sports last year!

You appear no weaker than when you weren't training at all!

You should be looking at making some serious progress now after a 3 month lay off.
