My right elbow/forearm was really sore on Sat-Sun so the rest was needed. Trained today, 2nd to last heavy(ish) session before the comp on the 5th April. Pushed the weights a little heavier than I should and this was fasted this morning so things coming together.. Got to the venue nice and early but had to wait to weigh in, which wasn't too bad as chatting. Had some water etc before I left home so I knew what I'd be pretty much...Weighed in at 104.4 which was good, but not as pro as Macca or Cooper who were within 0.1kg!! Refuelled well after that starting with bacon and sausage butty, lots of carbs, then a trip to Tesco cafe with the big dog Sob to get a breakfast! We started lifting after lunch as I was with the big lads, despite being a slender 105 now. I warmed up nicely for the sqauts and everything was feeling good with my sights set on the 572.5kg British QT: Squat 175 - No lift - was nice and easy but didn't wait for the rack, doh! 190 - Good lift 202.5 - No lift I just couldn't grind it out, 190 was nice so I'm not sure what went wrong, confidence maybe. Bench Press 115 - Good lift 122.5 - Good lift 127.5 - No lift This just felt heavy today. Subtotal of 312.5kg left me needing to pull a big deadlift out the bag! Deadlift 230 - Good lift (easy) 260 - Good lift 267.5 - Good lift PB Well I didn't know that was there! Delighted with that. I had nothing to lose by jumping to 260 for my second lift, 230 flew up and everything felt good, got fired up well. Total = 580kg Qualified for the British which I'm well happy about! I didn't think I'd get it this time out. All good considering the 17kg weight loss and inconsistent training post injury. I've had a good 5-6 week build up though. I'm looking forward to a steady and consistent build up to my next comp now, just need to decide when and where I'll be lifting again.. | ||
