Mishas moving events arent good enough IMO to win it/podium, and if he has a carry, he's f**ked. He's Mark Clegg esque on the carries Wink

Misha was only ever a part time strongman though. If he gave up his dreams of weightlifting and threw himself into it then he may come close.

That being said, I agree with the point already made that it looks like you need to be 6' 5" plus and over 170k to be in with a shout of being at the top.

Somebody said last year that Shaw is the evolution of strongman, now with the likes of Jenkins and Thor that looks all the more true. Would be interested to hear peoples views on if that is the way they want to see the sport evolve?

even if you made a comp with events that suit the kind of athlete ahola was I think the giants of today would still own him.

I would love to see 200kg+ Shaw do some of the ridiculous medleys of the 90s

you would need one huge ambulance

the year Pudz beat Poundcake on the final stone was a good balance between the Ahola & Shaw generations

I watched aholas first win in 97 and I dont remember anything that crazy in that? log for reps, max flintstone deadlift, car roll, car hold, loading medley (not crazy from memory Grin ). pretty standard!

I watched it too(or maybe 99) and I'm pretty sure the heats had 2 medleys, nothing that mad, but Ahola streaks ahead, and all the huge guys are left trailing

also remember one medly that had about 4 elements, inluding a hummer push?

definately events where being 200+ would be prohibitave and not advantagous! Happy

I agree in essence with Martin, however, if it was at the weights Ahola could shift, it would be VERY light for Shaw, and therefore not anywere near as taxing!

I think this is the point really, I don't want the events to end up where if you ain't 6ft 5 then there is no point going

I don't want a return to the 90s cardio fests, just some events to bring down the weight and height advantage

To be fair, the comp in 2009, Pudz got 2nd, Shaw was there, Z was there, Poundstone was there, and the events were reasonably heavy, 155 or 166 fixed axle for reps is hardly lightweight!
And 160 farmers which Pudz absolutely stormed. What else was there? I don't remember. Arm over arm.
