On the events at Europes and against Thor its just not the same. How longs it been since Ed beat Thor? 3 of those 4 events will always be at ESM as well. Ed beat 4 at the Arnold's in 2015.

Singular. To be fair he was a runner up twice at Worlds by Ed's age. He also won 5 more Arnold's straight, plus won the other world titles. Can't compare Ed to Z my friend. Not yet anyway. I'm sure Ed himself would tell you Z is the greatest.

Runner up but off first by more points than Ed in 03. I'm not comparing Ed now to Z now. I'm comparing Ed at 28 to Z at 28. Z was clearly better but not by a huge gulf. If Ed is that close to one of the greatest ever at the same stage of development. I don't see any reason why he can't succeed some success himself. Not saying he is destined to be as successful as Z, just saying it's interesting to compare like for like. Also interestingly Shaw hadn't won WSM or Arnold's before he turned 29. Both Z and Shaw really kicked on at 29/30.

Some numpties will continue to compare Hall to Z on racist basis that Hall is British.

Part of me wants to revisit the whole Ed is a racist Asian attacker, but I resist.... Which has absolutely nothing to do with how good or not a strongman he is. I don't see why you can't compare him to Z. Both had the same number of WSM titles at 29. Z then pushed on. Maybe Ed can do the same, maybe he can't - my personal opinion is that it's unlikely, but to say it's impossible is frankly ridiculous. At 28 Z wasn't the best in the world either. That was Pudz who in 03 at the age of 25 won WSM in a field that included Savickas, Virastyuk, Samuelson, Karlsen, Girard and Bergmanis with about two events to spare and dropping just 4 points in the entire contest. That is the most impressive performance ever in strongman.

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5206 posts | Z just posted an easy 200 log. Least I think it was 200. Arnold number 9 on it's way!

The events may be there, but recent evidence shows that stones and overhead are not banker events for Ed against Thor like they are against the other guys at brits. (That said, i think a few of the newcomers could test ed this year on yoke press, which requires far more fitness than viking or max log (which he shared points on anyway))

Just that it's ridiculous to say he can never win. This years BSM is going to be fascinating. I think Hicks is back? He could potentially challenge Eddie on safe lift.

Member 5141, 4204 posts SQ 300, BP 180, DL 350830.0 kgs @ 130kgs UnEq | Hicks is there, and both paul smith and mark Steele did double digits on yoke press to qualify for brits.

It's going to be a great line up - Eddie Hall Laurence Shahlaei Mark Felix Adam Bishop Terry Hollands Luke Stoltman Tom Stoltman Charlie Gough Graham Hicks Paul Smith Mark Steele Probably someone else as well. It's going to a great contest. Whoever finishes top 5 in that deserves a place at WSM for sure.
