Quite a good comparison to make given they both debut and WSM at around the same age. According to his Wiki page. 3. One of which being the arnolds.

I actually think Z and Ed in terms of age is a pretty good comparison. About the same level of success, about the same distance away from winning WSM(in terms of points at least). When Z was Ed's age he was handed a huge thrashing my Pudziownoski at WSM in 2003. In 2016 Ed was well beaten by Shaw and Thor.

Member 5560, 769 posts | Another thing I've noticed - When can we start talking about being impressed by Brian Shaw's longevity and consistency? If he makes the final in 2017 he will equal Terry's record of 9 consecutive finals.

AKA the great reset Member 4056, 5206 posts | Ed will not have the longevity of Z and Shaw. He said himself he wants to win WSM and get out. I think he can, but he needs everything to go perfect and fix a few problems.

Best contest possible for Ed at the moment would be - Winning both static events outright Winning truck pull (possible if it's very heavy) Beating Thor or Shaw in the stones Finishing at least 4th in the other two events. That would give him 53 points and almost certainly the title. I think with a good wind behind him all those things are individually possible but for all of them to happen in the same contest is pretty unlikely so he needs to make some improvements. Another factor of course are the other guys in the final and how they perform. Put a max log in the final with guys like Savatinov, Lalas and Radzikowski and Shaw is in the minor points etc.

I was counting a strongman super series in 04 also. i suppoae 04 would be making him 29 tho and not Under 29.

I enjoy the banter and do think some overrate Ed a tad. But he is a cracking strongman and has improved every year. I wouldn't make him favourite over Thor or Brian, but who knows? I would never of imagined big Phil beating Pudz. Ed definitely still has a chance, but he needs to do it soon Imo.

On the events at Europes and against Thor its just not the same. How longs it been since Ed beat Thor?

He hasn't taken part since he's been a pro. Z had one Arnold title. So not major comps. Major comp. Singular.
